JIM DUNLOPFlow Standard Grip .88mm Guitar Picks (549R.88)

First, I never write these kind of reviews, and I’m hesitant to write this one as I expect one day I will have a hard time finding these picks and I will be dismayed!Earlier in the Fall, I was turned on to Primetone picks and was blown away. From their grip and feel, to the unique sound they make when they are dropped, a musical tinkle, lively...not plastic and dead. I also found they enhanced my sound with with increased presence and acoustic timbre (even on electric guitar) with varied harmonic complexity based on the thickness of the pick used. Moving from a Dunlop Tortex pick or any faux Tortoise shell pic to Dunlop Primetone is almost like you just changed your strings!Then Primetones became scarce and expensive. Ultimately I had a hard time finding Primetone picks in 1.0mm thickness... having become disenchanted with the sound of other picks, I saw these Dunlop Flow picks, they looked to be a similar material as the Primetones and were affordable available in the 1.0mm thickness, so I figured I would give them a try. So glad I did!The Dunlop Flow 1.0 pick is now my preferred pick for acoustic flat picking (Primetone 1.4mm Jazz for electric, but ordering some Flow 1.4s to hear what they have to offer).One thing I wasn’t expecting was how the unique shape of the standard grip Flow pick (a somewhat larger version of a Jazz III) is forgiving and allows for a variety of expressive picking and strumming attacks that are seemingly enhanced with both clarity and accuracy. Not sure if it relates to my use of the smaller Jazz III shaped Primetone 1.4mm picks for electric, but I do believe the shape of the standard grip Flow 1.0 allows me greater, and more expressive, accuracy.Another bit of anecdotal regarding the Primetone picks. While waiting for these Flow 1.0 picks to arrive I was happy using a standard grip Primetone 1.5 with my acoustic and it has its own thing, the sparkle/shimmer is there but dialed back and tastefully replaced with some additional richness... a deeper/tighter harmonic grind when strumming in comparison to the Flow 1.0... While PT 1.5mm is compelling for certain passages, I find myself reaching for my Flow 1.0 time and again.

These are my favorite picks. They sound good, don’t slip out of your hand and last forever. 10/10!

These things last a while, and they have a textured surface for improved grip. This pick doesn’t slip, rotate or fall out of my picking hand like the smooth flows do occasionally. Worth every penny

I've been playing guitar for over 15 years and I have seen all kinds of picks. I've used gas station membership cards as picks, I've used Pick Jesus picks, I've used Papaw's banjo thumb picks for picks. At some point I realized all my picks go missing because I don't care about them. It's not my finger than gets obliterated by smacking the strings at 100 miles per hour, it's my old trusty pick.So not too many moons ago, a friend of mine gave me a few green Tortex Flows (0.88mm) to try out on my guitar. I fell in love with the thickness, the feel, the sound I could get from using them. Then I tried them out on the bass! I have never broken a Tortex Flow on the bass and I play punk music. One day, I find that Tortex Flows come in a performance model -- these bad boys I'm reviewing. They aren't green, they're a muddy translucent brown, but they have all the essentials I loved about the green Flows and so much more. The grip keeps these locked in my fingers without any amount of force needed. They have a slightly more comfortable give when striking the bass strings or the guitar strings, which surprised me since the green Flows already feel so responsive when I strike, pick or strum.Your grandnanny wouldn't have it any other way. Stop complaining about losing picks, grab an Altoids tin and keep a few baggies of these incredible picks in there for all your gigging, recording or practicing. If you lose them at that point, it's because you don't care about the tool that saves your hands the most.

These are fantastic, the raised grip of the ultex versions works great, and they feel very smooth to play as most flow varieties do. I prefer the 1.5 mm thickness as the tip holds up to heavy palm mutes and chugs better than the 1.0 version. These also feel nice on acoustic to me.

Mark Tremonti purchased every pick he could find from sweetwater while he was off tour from Alter Bridge because he didn't like any of the picks companies made. He was using the same picks I was using the dunlop black ice but he wasn't that happy with them. Neither was I but there were better than anything else I could find.AT the end of his test he chose the Jim Dunlop Flow Standard. I bought a pack because who doesn't like Marks playing right? I was astounded at how great these picks are. They have all the control of a Jazz 3 but are not so small you loose them in the shred. They are the perfect size made of the perfect material with crazy raised lettering that produce more grip than anything I've ever tried. Standard picks are slightly to large and Jazz 3 picks are slightly too small. This is the happy medium between the 2. BEST PICKS EVER!

It's just a pick right? Wrong, these have come along way from stuff just punched out of sheets. Better grip, better edge and hold up really well...amazingly well.

Chegou rápido e sem avaria. A escrita em alto relevo realmente produzem um grip muito bom, mas se você tem o hábito de "esconder" a palheta entre os dedos e alternar entre picking e fingerpick, vai precisar "lixar" um pouco as letras para reduzir o grip, porque fica inviável deslizar a palheta entre os dedos.

Decided to test these after using Ultex for years, and I'm glad I did. I love the sound and feel of the amber Ultex picks, but I find they tend to slip out of my fingers so I do some modifications to add grip. No big dea to do thisl, but these Flow picks already have a well thought out grip that is sort of countersunk, so the pick doesn't feel too thick. Also sharper than regular Ultex, which I like because I always sharpen my pick a bit with a fine-toothed file. I find the .73 to be thin enough for a great acoustic tone and to have a very slight flex, but heavy enough to stand up to aggressive playing on electric. The only thing I do to the Flow picks is to add just a very slight rough edge to the point, as I like a bright attack, especially on acoustic. So five seconds with a high grit sandpaper and they are perfect!

J'utilise des médiators fin pour le struming, je suis en train de monter progressivement l'épaisseur en même temps que je fais évoluer ma technique. Ce médiator est parfait pour tout faire, struming et picking en acoustique mais aussi guitare électrique.
