These include live real-time data, 6 modes of OBD-II data, trilingual support, freeze frame data, state OBD check (emissions), drive cycle mode and more. Generic and Manufacturer Codes and Definition On-screen Since the 1980's standardized Onboard Diagnostic systems—first OBD-I and currently OBD-II—mandated for virtually all cars and light trucks manufactured for the US market have provided automotive technicians with insight into the increasingly complex inner workings of modern passenger vehicles. Professional technicians utilize large, expensive diagnostic tools to translate the diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) and other data generated by the internal computer networks of in your vehicle when the malfunction indicator light (MIL) on your dashboard goes off. The cost for this is passed on to you by your mechanic, but mid-level to advanced do-it-yourselfers (DIY) can now gain access to this information and much of the functionality for a fraction of the cost of a visit to the service center with the Actron CP9575 AutoScanner Scan Tool. Codes and definition on-screen. View larger. Additional professional features. View larger. Slim and Internet updateable. View larger. With Actron CP9575 AutoScanner Scan Tool DIYers who want to know detailed information about their vehicle's condition can instantly and affordably gain access to both generic and manufacturer-specific OBD-II codes generated by their vehicles and their respective code definition, all on the unit's easy to read backlit screen. These codes can be easily navigated through using a single hand with the patented one-touch read and erase buttons both during normal use parameters of their vehicle and in the event of an MIL event. Designed for ease of use, the CP9575 is CAN compliant (an important OBD-II computer protocol), utilizes a standard 16-pin OBD-II connector and features a cable permanently connected to the unit. CAN functionality allows the CP9575 to interact with and sample data from the different diagnostic subsystems within your vehicle, while the standard pin layout and permanent orientation of the cable ensures that you will always be able connect to your vehicle's data link connector (DLC), the OBD-II input port usually located underneath your dashboard. Along with this, the unit's rugged construction, ability to power itself directly through the OBD-II cable and portable size mean that it can be stored and taken anywhere. Professional Scan Tool Features at a Code Reader Price In addition to displaying DTCs and their definitions, the Actron CP9575 also provides access to an impressive list of additional functionality that allows for more advanced analysis of data produced by your vehicle. Some of these prominent features include the reading and display of "freeze frame" data, which is a snapshot of the overall sensor readings from your vehicle's central computer at the time of a MIL event; access to the VIN (vehicle ID number), CVN and Cal ID; and the display of the status of your vehicle's inspection and maintenance (I/M) monitors, whose proper working is pivotal to a vehicle passing state mandated emissions tests. Add to this even more productive and convenience features like the access to live engine data, the ability to check fixes within your vehicle by displaying OBD-II Drive Cycle Mode, Internet updatability of codes, definitions and software and language support in English, Spanish and French, and the Actron CP9575 AutoScanner Scan Tool quickly distinguishes itself as a must-have tool that will easily pay for itself in maintenance costs saved. Actron CP9575
I had an issue with my vehicle and I was tired of checking with the local automotive store for the code and clearing it when I was running some tests. Got the Actron and saved a lot of time driving back and forth, waiting for help at the store, etc. Now I can check whenever I want, at home, at the gas station, help a friend or family member out. The Actron works well, might be a bit hard to see in direct sunlight, just change the angle, the buttons feel good, not mushy, good response, I can't complain about the speed of the unit and the screen page changes. This is the only one I have extensive use with, I can't say if it is fast, slow, etc. The speed is adequate for me, personnally. If you own a few cars or deal with a few and some older that will then to exhibit issues with codes, I highly recommend owning an auto scanner, it will save a lot of time and frustration. Please click YES if my review have been helpful to you, it will encourage me to continue writing and updating my reviews, and leave a comment if you have any questions, I will be more than happy to answer if I can be of help.

a great tool with a great design flaw
This thing works great! Easy to use, read, and clear codes. The instructions are pretty clear and easy to follow. This tool helped me pass safety/emissions (My car has a faulty O2 sensor which causes the check engine light to come on periodically. I was stupid and put premium gasoline in my car for the first year. I later found out that premium gas is notorious for screwing sensors up- don't use it unless your car is turbo-charged or the manufacture specifies using premium grade gasoline... Lo and behold, my sensors started bugging out... but i digress...).This scanner does get stuck in your car though. I read the other reviews stating this and I thought it wouldn't happen to me. The VERY FIRST TIME I plugged it in, it snapped into place and was dam near impossible to get off. I seriously almost broke my car's port trying to get it out. When you first get it out of the box, you'll notice a square hole in the port end. The thin piece of plastic on the top of the square hole is what holds it into your car's port. It is also the reason it gets stuck in your car. After I finally got it out, I cut that piece out so it's a U shape instead of a square. Now it doesn't stay in. I have to hold it tightly to get it to read. If I could go back in time I would have just cut a slit in the middle of that top plastic piece instead of cutting it completely out. That way it would still click into place, but would still be easier to get off. I'm not sure how AutoZone does it, because I'm pretty sure they use this same reader but it doesn't get stuck when they plug it in. I'll probably just glue a piece of plastic on so it stays hooked on better.Would i make this purchase again? Yes, but I would split that top piece instead of cutting it completely out. And I would do that BEFORE trying it out on my car for the first time.

Great interface and product works well but terrible connector
I used this to check and clear codes for an upcoming emissions test ,it worked well.I was able to clear MIL and use the real time data to check to see when all the tests completed for the STATE OBD.Once done I went to state emissions test and my truck passed.I tried it on two other vehicles and it connected right away and gives you water temp ,rpms and other data while running. All the functions worked and my unit was burned in on April 2015 so no need to update. Now the fatal flaw on this unit has nothing to do with the way it works but how you connect it to your car.The tab on the bottom locks in too well .Be aware that you can get unit to connect and start reading without seating it all the way in.But if you want to drive around with it and watch real time data ,you best have a screwdriver to slightly pry it off.You can wiggle or force it off but it is way easier with a screwdriver .After googling the problem I found others had the same experience with all Actron models.I asked the counter guys at Autozone to show me the one they use to see if mine was defective or just a bad design .They had cut the piece of plastic away so it slides on and off easier. The guy confirmed it is a bad design but since the product works so well worth dealing with it.

Love all the features for the money
I have seen some better ones, but i bought this for my Mechanic boyfriend and he loves it. it can remove the engine light which is a nice feature i hear b/c if you try to fix/adjust something and then remove the light its nice to see if it pops back on letting you know the problem is still there. also it gives you codes and for the most part defenitions too so you are not googleing that the codes mean lol..It comes in a nice hard case with instructions and its nice b/c it fits newer cars and a lot of older cars as well. I LOVE that it has a backlight on it! watch out for that b/c you will find that sometimes you (or family and friends) will want their car scanned when its dark outside and i understand that the car lights will be on but its makes a big differnace to me that the screen lights up! it was a specific feature i know i looked for when buying!

Everyone should have one... Keep the mechanics honest
Long story short I was having trouble with my 3003 ford escape V6 . Check engine light came on, car would not start and if it did, ran like crap. So I took it to a mechanic. He did the diagnostic check for me for $130, told me it was one of my ignition coils along the firewall. He wanted $950 to change three coils and all 6 plugs. I said thanks but no thanks. Took the car home and did the work on my own. Once I finished the recommended work I started the car...there was no change in the performance. Talking about wanting to pull my hair out!. I was about to bring the car back to the mechanic again. The chech engine light came on again so I decided its time to get a code reader. Two days later this money saver came in the mail. I pluged her in and in seconds it told me a code and that there was a misfire in cylinder 5. Cylinder 5 is in the front towards the radiator, totally not where the mechanic said the bad one was. I changed that coil out with one I swapped from the rear and the car runs like new!!!! Tool just paid for itself....
