Overboard Adventure Duffel Bag

This is my out of box review for the overboard-adventure 90 duffel (with backpack straps):NOTE: I've had a North Face Base-Camp Medium bag (that is VERY similar) for over 5 years and it has been extremely good to me. I wanted to get a gift for a friend and I thought the north face bag would be great.... but too much $$$ (I'm all about frugality). I love the North Face and will use it as a reference-point to my review.Out of the box the bag felt a bit thinner than the North Face. Very shiny too, ha. I figure the shine will blemish a bit with time and wear. It's a gift to a girl though, so I think she'll like the shiny. I'm interested in how this bag will hold up to getting tossed around in cars, airplanes, boats, beaches, forests, etc...Also are a few minor scuffs on it, but I'm not going to complain (unless quality comes into question at a later date at which point I will update the review). My North Face has survived several trips though airport security and is getting pretty banged up - which is making it a better-looking bag! Also, with the price I paid, I can deal with a few scuffs that would end up happening anyway.Right away, I stuffed this bag full of pillows to get a feel for how big it is - 90L is BIG. North Face is a little smaller. As far as getting this thing into overhead airplane bins, I don't think it will be a problem so long as it's not stuffed (I like to carry-on).The shoulder straps were easy to put on. Took a little arranging to keep them from sliding when I picked it up to my shoulders. No big deal. 15 seconds later and they're tight and secured.Will update as needed. Like it lots thus far

Product came quickly and fast.Carries way more stuff than i thought it would. Very sturdy and it is also very easy to put away.I use it for camping, fishing, and even for carrying tools from one garage to another and it definitely fits the bill for your daily carrying tasks if you have many items to carry.I would recommend this item to friends who need to carry a lot of objects or if they simply just want a sturdy, well designed bag.

If you're traveling and you don't want to check-in your bag but you have a lot of stuff to carry then this is the bag for you. It has lots of space and you can carry it on your back like a back pack. the only thing I didn't like about it is it doesn't have a lot of compartments. It has like two pockets on the inside and one on the outside, would've been cool to have compartments to separate all of my stuff. But for this low price you really can't complain. The material looks a little plasticy so I don't know how long it'll last but it does the job in the mean time.

I purchased this bag for my trip to Mt. Kilimanjaro. It worked perfectly. I used two additional wet bags to organized other items within this bigger bag as well as to compress my sleeping bag. Now our family uses it at home in Florida when we go out on the boat and I'm sure it will get much use on future camping trips

Took this bag from the states over to Nepal. It was tied up and carried by porters all through the Himalayas and held up nicely. It was such good weather that I didn't get to check the water resistant side of things.

Nice size bag but when full weighs way too much to carry as a duffel. The backpack straps are awkward with a heavy load. Fine if you're not carrying around as luggage but this thing was a bear to lug around an airport and train...not recommended for travel, fine for short hauls or to leave in boat, etc.

This bag is awesome. Really tough material and zippers. So many straps, handles, and pockets. Backpack mode is comfortable, the shoulder strap is nice. Exactly what I wanted. Over two hard years of abuse and it is going strong. I could leave this bag outside in the rain overnight and not worry about the clothes inside getting wet.

Great bag. Seems to be durable and glad I got a duffel with shoulder straps. Only thing it could have maybe used is another pocket or 2

Been with me in industrial expeditions from Greenland to Tanzania and PNG with far less exotic and challenging hauling in the middle.

UPDATE: 2 years after purchase. The Shoulder straps are now pulling the bag apart and the stitching is coming apart leaving a hole in the bag where the strap is sewn in. It has given me 2 years HEAVY REPEATED service however. I am inclined to compare to my north face with has withstood 5 years service with heavier loads and still going strong.---------------I'm writing this review more as a result of the shocking delivery service I recieved with Amazon Prime.I signed up with the service as I needed 'GUARANTEED' next day delivery due to going on holiday (hence the new bag).Cut a long story short, I had to drive myself to the delivery depot the day after expected delivery after making countless calls to the couriers - and picking up the bag myself.Waste of my time and effort. I read reviews on the couriers amazon seem to use and they also had SHOCKING reviews. Most people said that the delivery drivers never turned up and as a result, never left a delivery card. So calling the depot and tracking down the item (without the delivery number conveniently found on the non-existant delivery card) is a nightmare.The depot collection point itself (new cross, london) was inside the warehouse, through a shutter by the back of an empty lorry trailer. Piece of hand written scrawl, sellotaped to a scrappy table, notified me to 'Wait here' while someone turned up... after 10 mins.Absolutely appalled that amazon STILL use these guys. Don't bother with amazon prime - just use Royal Mail, at least they do their job.As for the product - its perfect. Instead of paying North Face £80 for the same type of bag, you get more pockets, a sewn in wetbag, extra straps, a decent padlock and fairly useless but nice carabiner for your keys (?). Top notch, good price, would deffo recommend. Only thing I found slightly impractical is the two compartment zip mesh pocket inside could have been bigger. Oh well, not a biggy compared to the product as a whole.

I bought this bag as i travel a lot and needed something that would be able to withstand being banged about by airport baggage handlers.Firstly the bag is deceivingly large and can hold far more than other 90ltr holdalls that i have purchased. It also has a waterproof internal pocket so you can keep any documents dry while out and about.I love the fact it comes with the straps that can be fitted to make it into a rucksack. It makes it multi purpose as not only a holdall, but can be used for beach etc.The stitching looks to be excellent and i have not seen any signs of fraying or wear on the seems (and i have had the bag packed to bulging point many times).I already owned one of the small overboard waterproof bags for the beach, and this holdall is of the same material so no soaking wet luggage if caught out in the rain. It is also wipe clean son ideal if it gets dirty. Have not tried to wash in the machine as a quick rub with a wet cloth has done the trick.The only pick up i would have (and its a bit trivial) is i ordered the white version of this bag, and on the picture it looked more grey than white, but it really is white, and i mean brilliant white, although it really doesnt make any difference to the quality.

I needed a duffel bag for when I'm out and about, but I also wanted something that was water resistant for when I go to festivals and camping. I came across this bag and I have to say I am very impressed!!It has a heavy, thick base to the bag meaning that no water is going to seep in from a wet floor and makes it very resistant to being thrown around and dragged along the floor (not that I would do that!!) It also comes with removable backpack straps which is genius. Being able to use the bag in different ways is very convenient, depending on what you have in the bag. There is also a padded shoulder strap as well and grab handles either side.There are 2 internal side mesh zip pockets and an internal wet/dry pocket for any wet clothing you want to keep separate to your dry stuff. There is plenty of room on the inside and the bag feels very strong and secure. I would highly recommend this bag to anyone who is out and about, especially for festivals and camping

So far so good. I bought both the 35 and the 50 ltr. And am super happy with them. I do treat them well, by that i mean, i don't think they are invincible. The soft plastic they are made out of, i think, would easily tear if gouged by sharp metal like a shroud or broken cleat. But the handles seem strong and are designed well. The inner waterproof pocket gives increased confidence that your valuables will stay dry, whilst the main bag when zipped up, would take a massive amount of spray and everything would stay dry. The true test would be whether it can sit in a puddle of water... but sorry haven't had this scenario yet. My biggest fear is luggage guys at the airport, but in this size i have only used as 'hand' luggage and was perfect for this!! loads of usable room!!
