did not have to run ballast resistor with this coil that is why i got it, however i could not tell a performance difference from stock delco remy coil , might be but i could not tell

Great Coil
I got this coil for my 1962 Triumph Spitfire. I race my Spitfire in a SCCA GP class. This item is great! I have notice a big throttle response with this item and the PerTronix ignitor. I would recommended buying it if you have an old coil or want to dress up your engine bay. The coil is so easy to install just about anyone can do it. You just have Three leads ( + , _ ) and one going to your distributor.

Good product
I used this along with a pertronix ignition. Had the tractor starting like it had been shut off 5 minutes ago, and it was more like 5 months ago. 40 degrees and damp conditions wham fired after cranking for 10 second or so.

I installed this Flame Thrower on a 1964 Cushman to replace the original crank mounted one that finally failed after all these years. Get the one with the chrome cover, it is worth the extra couple of bucks. Does it put out 40,000 volts? I have no idea, but the Cushman runs great and the new coil looks great mounted under my seat.

Best Aftermarket Coil Around
Every time I need to replace a coil on an air-cooled VW, I get one of these. Killer hot spark and I have yet to have any issues with any of them. Paired with PerTronix Electronic Ignition Distributor, makes for a great running VW.

Outstanding ignition coil
Purchased to go with the solid state distributor kit. Works like a charm. Starts easier, better fuel economy, and no misfires even at high RPM or under heavy load. Definitely worth the price.

Flame Thrower
The Flame Thrower Coil was purchased as a set with the Ignitor. So far the coil seems okay but hasn't been in use long enough to fully show its true potential.
