'Some Sunny Day - The Songbook... The Energy... And The Blend' is a one of a kind box set from on of the most popular female vocal groups of the 20th century! Bringing together studio recordings that have never before been available, with five full early 1950s albums, never before collected on one set! Included are collaborations with Tommy Dorsey. Guy Lombardo, Russ Morgan, Bing Crosby, Gordon Jenkins, Alfred Apaka, Al Jolson, Dick Haymes, Danny Kaye, Dan Dailey and Desi Arnaz. "Sailor" and "Good Night and Good Dreaming", their very rare tracks recorded in London, England in 1961 are debuting on CD. This comprehensive set with an introduction in the liner notes by Patty Andrews herself! Musically this marvellous set includes ballads, swing, hymns, Western tracks, Hawaiian songs, standards and seasonal material. This is one of Jasmine's 2012 highlights.

Awesome
This is my second CD compilation purchase of the Andrew Sisters and it doesn't disappoint at all. I can listen to these ladies all day. When listening to the songs you can hear that they more or less sang about the same problems we have today, except that it is much easier to understand them and more enjoyable. Jasmine has done a good job with this compilation. Looking forward to more purchases of the music of the Andrew Sisters.

Andrews Sisters Varied and Unique
As all of the selections on this incredible CD set are listed here, there's no use to say anything buy this CD set before it goes out of print! The sound is quite excellent considering (or even not condsidering) the sources. I was on a long road trip and this set helped to make the drive that much easier. Much of the material has not been released on CD before. Many have not seen the light of day since their original releases. A big hurray to Jasmine Records for not releasing another compilation of the Andrews Sisters with just their hit recordings and an even bigger hurrah for releasing a 4 CD set! Lot's of fun surprises!

Great Collection - But......
Very Happy with this collection. I purchased the MP3 version. Lots of rare tracks that I've been searching for and sound quality was great. Biggest downside to MP3 product is liner notes are not included which is very disappointing. If anyone knows where I can obtain or purchase a copy of the liner notes, please let me know.....this was only reason that I didn't give it 5 stars. Otherwise, I highly recommend adding this to your collection.

One of the best CDs!
I enjoy a variety of music, but the music of the late 40's, 50's and 60's is especially exciting because it is simply wonderful. This CD is amazing, and I recommend it to anyone who enjoys good harmony and GREAT songs!

charming and rythmic
I DO like their charming sound, nostalgic but classical evergreen-like, to me. They do also play wonderfully with the rythm at times.

Second Jasmine box, mostly focusing on 1945-53
Despite the many compilations of Andrews sisters music that I own, I found plenty that I heard before. Sometimes I'd heard other versions of these songs, but there were other songs that I din't remember hearing by anybody. Overall, I still think their earlier music (when the musicians stopped playing while the sisters sang) was the best, but there probably isn't much, if any, of their early music that I haven't already got. This boxed set primarily covers the period from 1946 to 1953, but with some later, even as late as 1961. The tracks are in no particular order, except that there are all the tracks from five albums featured here, and those album tracks appear consecutively for each album. It is worth noting that early albums were presented as a series of singles packaged together; that's why they were called albums, but the name stuck despite the introduction of long playing records and subsequent developments. The format of the album was changing even during the period covered by this collection. One song I don't remember hearing before (although I may have dons) is I don't want to go to Michigan, written by Irving Berlin. My first reaction was that it used some very contrived rhymes, but I checked with one of the natives, who confirmed that Michigan is indeed pronounced Mish-again, as in the song. So we Brits have the same problems with some American names as Americans do with some British names. Having accepted the pronunciation, it's a great song - one of so many here. One of the newest recordings here is Sailor, which was originally a USA and German hit in its original German language as Seemann. Petula Clark recorded English and French translations, hitting #1 as Sailor in the UK and #2 as Marin in France. The sisters put up a good effort on Sailor, but I still prefer Petula's version.I could discuss so many other songs, but if you love the music of the Andrews sisters, you'll enjoy this.Track ListingsCD 11.
