I gained even more respect For President Lincoln after reading about his very very tough early years..

Gorgeous copy, packaged well to avoid any damage. I hardly ever write reviews, but this book was in far better condition than what I expected, and it arrived ahead of promised delivery date. I love it!

WOW!!! Wow how proud can one get knowing that Abe was his G-X's 4 Grandfather-EH!!! I just sated reading this book! So far I like what I have been reading! Very interesting to boot!!!

Easy to read, great resource on Abe Lincoln and the times in which he grew up. Good picture of the culture of the time.

I gave this book to a Lincoln buff, and haven't heard much about it.I only hope he really liked it.

This bio of Abe Lincoln is written in an unusual romanticized style. For me, the author's poetic roots come through too strongly. Also young Lincoln's "thoughts" frequently appear in the narrative, which I found disconcerting. They seemed more sophisticated than I believed plausible for his given age and life experience. Although the book makes a good read-aloud for ages 7-12, in many ways I think it is more readable for adults because it illuminates the world socio-political-cultural context of the time. For grade-schoolers, I would choose the Landmark and D'Aulaire books on Lincoln.
