Works Perfect in a Dell 9020 OptiPlex running Win7Prox64
Review for BH16NS40 purchased/shipped from Amazon (not third-party package)This model came as a complete package from LG and contained:Optical DriveSATA 3 CablePC-SATA Power Adapter Cable (3" in length)4 - 3mm Screws for MountingCyberLink SoftwareInstalled the drive into a Dell OptiPlex 9020 in the 2nd slot, straight-forward install.Dell already had a SATA power connection, then connected the supplied SATA cable from drive to motherboard.Powered up Dell and Win7Prox64 automatically loaded a standard Windows driver, no LG driver was needed.Ran a CD and DVD write/verify/read tests and it worked perfectly and quietly, much quieter than the Dell supplied Matsushita DVD burner in slot 1.Installed CyberLink Software consisting of:CyberLink PowerDVD 10.0.5507.52 (Player )CyberLink Power2Go 7.0.0.3328 (Disc Burner )CyberLink PowerProducer 5.5.3.5225 (Video Production )CyberLink PowerBackup 2.50.9729a (Data/File Backup )CyberLink MediaShow 6.0.5019 (Photo/Video Slideshow )CyberLink LabelPrint 2.5.5415 (Disc Label Creator )CyberLink MediaEspresso 6.5.3807_46074 (Video Format DownConvert)Watched Madagascar DVD with PowerDVD, worked perfectly and drive is very quiet....Burned 3 different BD-R SingleLayer (25G) with verify and all worked perfectly, no failures.Using Verbatim media, "Verbatim 25 GB 6x Blu-ray Single Layer Recordable Disc BD-R, 25-Disc Spindle" (Amazon)Burned 1 BD-R DoubleLayer (50G) with verify and worked perfectly, no failure.Using Verbatim media, "Verbatim 50 GB 6x Blu-ray Double Layer Recordable Disc BD-R DL, 3-Disc" (Amazon)Not a heavy user so I can't comment on longevity...

Works as expected
The drive works just as expected. It was easy to install, and came with CyberLink Media Suite software. My only gripe is with the software. The drive came with outdated software and every time I turn on a program, they badger me with annoying popups to purchase the newer software. I wouldn't mind one ad when a new version is released, but constant advertising from day one is extremely annoying. I feel like a brand new drive should come with the latest software, or at least a free-upgrade to the latest software when it's first installed.

Works as advertised but loud
I get decent read speeds from this drive and it plays regular and 3D blu rays without issue. I haven't tested its burning capabilities yet but will update the review once I do. My major complaint is that it is loud, much more so than previous drives I have owned, and the quality of the noise is objectionable / irritating at times.

Good BD writer/rewriter with M-Disc support
This review is for the BH16NS40. I have 4 of these now, and they all perform VERY well. I won't be around to test the 1kYR life of the archival M-Discs I've burned with it, but after just a few years, so far so good!Contrast this to the BH12LS38 that I have in one machine; it works just fine as a reader, but produces 50% coasters for most burns (and I've tried several types of burning software, not just the one that came with it).BTW, the photo shown in the listing is incorrect.

BE AWARE!
OK got one from GIMIKA. Came in an open box when the order was supposed to be new. Printed on box and also seen in LG web page/product manual that BH series comes bundle with: 1- super multi blue install disc (and bundle software needed to burn with this unit) that's why I ordered this one an not the cheaper WH16 series; 2- manual; 3- serial ata cable (power/data); 4- mounting screws. None of the list was in the box!!!! Also I will copy exactly what's under this list: "*Compatibility problem in writing & reading may occur if you use the unbundled softwares."It have the scratches of a pulled unit, I could not find any identification; part or serial number that can tell me what drive is that!!!The WEIRDEST thing is that BIOS and windows 7 recognize it as an ASUS 12B1ST a1.00 !!!!!??????!!!!!!So, someone put an older ASUS unit and left the LG cover on it? The ASUS BW12B1ST does not have M-DISC support and BDXL compatibility and is an 12X drive.

LG is hit or miss
Ive owned 3 different LG "supermulti blu" drives over the years. My very first one is almost 8 years old now and going strong with almost zero hickups, a GGW-H20L. I added a second, newer model to the same pc a year later. a WH12LS39, and It's basically been crap since the day i bought it. It doesn't recognize 75% of BD-r's I've bought, but its a faster reader than my original for commercial bluerays and is superfast at burning dvd's and cd's, but its been useless for BD-r's and i rely on the 8 year old model for all my bluray burns. about 18 months ago i bought this burner, BH16NS40, to replace the WH, but i ended up building a Windows HTPC and added this drive to that system as a bluray player with Cyberlink. for about 12 months exactly its been excellent, but i admit i haven't burned a single disc on this system. then last week i was watching a movie and in the middle of the film, the movie froze and then so did my system. i restarted and tried to play again, to no avail. i then tried 2 other BD-r movies and same result. then i tried a commercial bluray, and it would not recognize the disc. I tried cleaning and even redid the system in case it was a software issue, nada. it will read cds and dvds, but the bluray laser seems dead and it makes a slight clicking noise when a bluray is inserted. and of course, it was just after the warrenty ran out. so its a grand total of 50-50 for me with lg. I loved how cheap they were for the features, but the quality leaves me with no option other than to switch brands.

A FAST drive, excellent 3D playback and easy to use.....
An easy install in my DELL XPS8700. Since I already had CYBERLINK 13 installed on my computer, I just ran the disc included with the drive and loaded the software I needed. Blu-Ray playback is flawless! Burning a Blu-Ray disc is quick ( less than 40 minutes to burn 22Gb to a 25Gb disc ). The dive came with all the mounting hardware and cables ( SATA and power ), plus software.Would I buy this again? You betcha!
