The Practical Lean Six Sigma Pocket Guide for Healthcare (D-M-A-I-C) is designed as a convenient, quick reference, and, most importantly, a step-by-step implementation guide. You can put your finger on any tool within a matter of seconds! Use the book as follows: - Navigate the (Prepare) - Define - Measure - Analyze - Improve - Control right side book tabs. - Complete the A3 Project Report as you learn and apply the various tools on the project by: 1. Go to the tab in the book that corresponds to the D-M-A-I-C Phase you are working on. 2. Read about the tools for that phase of your project. 3. Apply the appropriate tools. 4. Complete the relevant section of the A3 Project Report. 5. Repeat 1 - 4 as you navigate through the phases and complete your project. - Use the Case Study Example Look-Ahead and Tool Grid Matrix to direct you to specific pages with examples or case studies for hospitals, clinics, and/or physician group practices. - Use the Index for quick access to a specific topic or tool. The tools are presented in the logical order relative to the D - M - A - I - C Phases and A3 (Project) Report format; keep in mind that many tools can be used repeatedly across the phases. For example, the value stream map introduced in the Define Phase and A3 Report - 2. Current State will most likely be used in the Improve Phase and A3 Report - 5. Future State; the Run Chart introduced in the Analyze Phase will most likely be used (or updated) in the Control Phase, and so forth. The Practical Lean Six Sigma Pocket Guide for Healthcare aligns managers and supervisors with the front-line associates to understand, implement, and sustain continuous improvement initiatives with real-world examples and practices. Review: GREAT Lean Sigma Reference and Implementation Guide for Healthcare! - I found this handy little pocket guide (3.5 x 5.5 inches) very compact. All the Lean Sigma tools are well-defined and there are examples of the various service lines in healthcare. The examples are from hospitals, clinics, labs, physician group practices, etc. and there is a quick reference guide that directs you to the specific type facility. The Lean Sigma tools are organized within the (Prepare) D-M-A-I-C format and are aligned with the A3 Report and Lean Thinking statements. The font size is legible and the staff loves its size. Superb value and 5+ stars! Review: Practical Approach and Resource for Lean and Six Sigma in Healthcare - I was astounded on the quality and information in this little book (3.5” x 5.5”, the font size is small, but legible.). Over 50 Lean Six Sigma tools are well-defined, examples provided from hospitals, clinics, etc., the tools are aligned with the D-M-A-I-C methodology, implementation steps guided are by the A3 Project Report, and Lean Thinking statements assist in “looking at the big picture” as you implement process changes. To me, the best value of any reference material in the market for Lean healthcare. Five+ stars!

Not worth the money - buy the Kindle version
Totally absurd format - you need a magnifying glass to read some of the charts. For just over a $1.00 more, you can get it for the Kindle, plus with a free app, read it on the computer, search for content, and copy text to a word processor. Having it on my Kindle, I can take it to a client's place of business for an on-site reference manual.
