This is exactly what it claims to be. It is very sharp and is great for weeding and cultivating. It's a slightly different take on a tool versus American design, but the function is fantastic! Just what I needed for tight areas.

This Homi appears to be crafted with care and quality metal(s) were used. The tool is sturdy and makes it easy to use, and the wood handle is made with same care and quality.

Zone 7-a : There is a large, sparse grass & just dirt, shaded area under a tree in our front yard. I thought it would be great to plant some cora bells there. I bought a bunch & started to dig, and by dig I mean not dig because a shovel was just not going through the ground which explains why no one ever planted anything there. There are just too many roots of something just growing all under the soil making it impossible to dig. So I decided to try this tool & was able to dig 6 holes using only this tool. It cleared out the roots & made the hole well.I would like to mention I am disabled with chronic pain. On good days which are not many I try to garden. This tool really helped me. It did take a lot of energy out of me to use but I got the job done.

It's very good to clean up around plants, small enough to get in between plants to pull out weed. It's working out very well for me.

Blade should be at 90 or 80 degrees to the handle, so that you can punch down with the blade into the earth, like a hatchet, and then pull it backwards. Instead, blade is at a 45 degree angle to the handle, crimped in tightly (see picture). It means you CAN'T use it like a hatchet with your wrist action into the earth, you can only use it for pulling backwards. So it's only useful for making furrows in soft sand or loam once it's gotten started, you can't use it for multipurpose punching down and uprooting deep weeds in hard clay. The blade is quite short, too, at 5", not 8-9". Metal is well-made with a sturdy full tang through the handle, does in fact look hand-blacksmithed, but angle is wrong. I would not buy this again. Better to get one from a department store where you can try out what they look like.

I can't be without this garden tool. Lost my old one and had to get this right away. It is fantastic for getting weeds out. Gets right to the roots without disturbing plants around it. It's a must for ant gardener.
