1 and half inch Intex Large Pool Strainer Assembly

Was very pleased to locate this product for sale on Amazon. Since I replace my Intex pool every summer, I never used to keep any of the parts but never thought Intex would change the intake strainer assembly. The newer strainers that Intex sells and includes with their pools have a permanent safety feature in that if you take the blue strainer cover off (assuming it even came with one), the strainer assembly has a built-in/fixed strainer screen that cannot be removed. This is to prevent swimmers from becoming sucked against the side of the pool or even worse, drowned by being held under the water should the pool owner fail to replace the blue strainer cover/screen. Anyone who has tried to vacuum their pool using their filter pump has surely discovered the inconvenience this new safety feature presents. The built in screen clogs too quickly as you vacuum debris due to the small intake area that allows water to be drawn in to the pump. I use an Intex Sand Filter Pump with a high quality aftermarket hose in conjunction with this old style strainer assembly and I am able to maintain a crystal clear pool without having to stop during cleanings to unclog the fixed strainer covers found with the new pools nor do I have to constantly clean or replace the filters that are used with the small and weak pumps that are included with a factory shipped pool. It is understandable why Intex made this change as it will reduce the risk of pool owners making a fatal mistake and reduce Intex's liability but I am really glad I can bypass this safety feature for now. My only advice is to make sure you always have the blue strainer cover in place when swimmer's are present in the pool and to always replace the strainer cover after servicing your pool to avoid unnecessary injury or death. The pool has to be cleaned as effectively and efficiently as possible but as a pool owner, you have to be responsible for the safety of everyone who comes near the pool.

High Quality item, the cap pictured is blue however the one I received was white. I did not expect a cap at all since the description stated the cap was sold separately however this is a very high quality product and was easy to connect to the plunger valve for the pump. It was easy to attaché to the pool sidewall after cutting the hole for it and took little effort to install.

Cost to much but worked for my pool

The original strainer leaked air when trying to vacuum. This replacement in connection with the plunger valve keeps a great suction when cleaning pool.

Used it when converting my intec above ground to a more substantial filter . Perfect!

Did not come with not to attach to side of pool, STILL NEED......How do I get one?

Works great if you damage the original or you purchase the pool liner and it doesn't come with the fittings. Make sure to read the reviews! Now I have a spare set on hand just in case.
