WizKidsD&D Attack Wing: Wave Two - Shadow Black Dragon Expansion Pack

The previous reviews weren't too helpful, so hopefully this is a little more info. First off, someone said that these are overpriced for what you get. I disagree. It isn't only the figure you are getting: it is also the rules for the figure, the tokens associated, additional upgrade cards, and an added 'adventure' for the game (I noticed he/she just cut and paste the same review on multiple figures btw). If you are getting this purely for the figure, it is a bit pricey. But as for the game, it is about right.This is NOT a D&D Icons of the Realms figure as you will find throughout Amazon. It is for the WizKids D&D Attack Wing game that uses very similar rules as X-Wing (WizKids being owned by Fantasy Flight Games, so makes sense). That being said, if you are just looking for a shadow dragon for other gaming, or collecting, this is right on par with the Icon figures as far as quality: not too bad, but nothing stellar.If you look at the images I took, you will see that it is a little smaller than the Red Dragon from the starter set. I'd say it is pretty close to the Blue Dragon, but with a larger wing span. Also, as a Shadow Black Dragon, it has a little transparency to the figure which I didn't expect. All in all though, looks pretty cool. As for game play, it has a base cost of 35, or the named unique cost of 41 for 'Umberlis'. The main game difference is that Umberlis has one more health (4) and 3 upgrade slots as opposed to 2, with a burst special slot as well. The Burst upgrade is 'Darkness', which dispels 'light spells' in range, and allows +1 defense die to all creatures within Range 2, except those that the Shadow Dragon is attacking. So it's a good defense play at close range. Nice against creatures with Charge actions.I won't go into further extensive details of the other cards since I have included images of those as well if interested. As of this review, I haven't had the chance to play test it yet, but I like the range 2 bite melee and range 2 tail melee, like the Red Dragon. Also, it has 4 actions available: Dodge, Feint, Target and Concentrate. So though it isn't as devastating as the Red Dragon for brute breath weapon, you have lots of maneuver options, and the where the breath weapon lacks in punch (3 die), it makes up for it with the ability to ignore armor (3 duration tokens added after, so a long recharge).

The molding, and painting on this mini perfect but the base for the mini is quite large so if you are using a grid for D&D I would definitely try to find a different base but besides that 10/10!

This was more impressive than I thought. It's translucent so it really has a shadow quality - dependent on the lighting! Very happy to give this as a gift for a gaming son.

Item just as described but the included cards, tiles, and tokens are not pictured in the main picture. Item is packed in heavy duty clam shell packaging...difficult to open but excellent if you are collecting and want to display. A very fun game to play and the figures look right at home among the other D&D miniatures.

Great looking dragon just a little smaller than I expected
