I was in the market for a durable good quality automatic watch for daily wear. After reading several reviews praising the accuracy and reliability Orient Star watch movements, and the quality of the GMT in particular, I decided to make the purchase in spite of the fact that Orient is not a widely distributed watch brand in the southeaster U.S. where I live. The watch arrived in a sturdy and impressive presentation box. The fit and finish of the watch appeared to be very good, and I was initially pleased with my purchase. At first, the watch operated well within the +/-15 sec/day specification for accuracy. Then, after about a month, it suddenly began running fast by about 45 sec/day. So, I sent it back to the merchant for repair. That's when my nightmare began, and it continues. I returned the watch in February 2015. It is now June 2015, and they still cannot give me any estimate on when my watch will be retuned to me. I was told that Orient aparently can be extremely slow in shipping parts from Japan. Sure, I saved a few bucks by purchasing this watch on Amazon. But the purchase has been a total waste of my money and time - an experience that I will not repeat in the future. Before making another high-dollar purchase, I will make sure that the manufacturer stands by their product with first rate customer service and support.
