Sturdy, engaging visuals, informative.
Every one from Dad, to 4 year daughter, to neighbors sons loves this mat. I bought approximately 9 learning place mats from individual vendors on Amazon for our 4 year daughter and kept those with the best visuals and most thorough information. The money mat, minerals mat, and the world map mat were sent back as they seemed lacking in information, or in appeal of the way the information was organized. It would be nice if Amazon would offer the learning place mats at a bundled price, individually they seemed overpriced with Prime shipping. This anatomy mat, the metric system mat, colors mat, addition mat, US states mat, and multiplication mat were other "keepers". Daughter chooses her interest and rotates them.

Good for what it covers
These are durable and educational. I have only one criticism. I am a grandparent who thinks children should learn about all body parts and systems in a comfortable, matter-of-fact manner. I believe we should present information about a breast, a penis, or a vulva in the same manner that we do an elbow, a foot, or an ear. For those who would like to have their children be comfortable learning about the whole body, perhaps there could be another version of this that includes more.

Educational Placemat
My 8-year old daughter enjoys looking at this placemat and asking questions about the human body while she eats. She tends to eat slower when she's looking at the mat, but she's easily distracted while eating and at least she's looking at something educational. The placemat shows basic body systems: circulatory, muscular (front and back views), skeletal, respiratory and digestive. It does not show the nervous system, lymph system or reproductive system and for some reason the bladder is missing. I can't recall what system that's supposed to be in - maybe digestive, but the kidneys show in the circulatory system so maybe that's where it belongs. The diagram figures are of a man but the genitals are left off. It also has diagrams for the five senses - hearing, smell, sight, touch, and taste. I don't believe the taste one is current because it still shows zones and I read recently where scientists have found taste receptors for the different tastes throughout the tongue and not just in the zones indicated. The back of the placemat is similar to the front but without labels so kids can test their knowledge using watercolor markers or washable crayons. We haven't tried that yet to see how well it erases. The back also adds a detailed diagram of the heart with labels. This placemat would not be good if a child has squeamish parents who have trouble talking about bodily functions while eating. Otherwise, it's a nice starter for educational conversations at the dinner table.

... (various designs from the same manufacturer) and they were awesome for about a year
I bought several of these (various designs from the same manufacturer) and they were awesome for about a year. I cleaned them in the dishwasher a few times, I washed them by hand almost every day and they didn't come apart... Until my youngest started teething and biting on everything she could get her little hands on.The back has the same picture as the front but it's like a line drawing and the labels are blank so you (or your youngling/s) can test your memory, the lamination is pretty thick, they're flexible, they wipe clean relatively easily. I will purchase them again when the little one stops being so bitey.

What a fun way to learn
What a fun way to learn. My kids have 4 of the painless placemat options and love them all. They've proven to be very helpful even while doing homework. Sometimes I've had to hid them because they've been a little too helpful during homework time.

Laminated and Educational - not just for meals
This is a nice placemat. My kids thoroughly enjoy it during meals, but will also play with it at random throughout the day. They like it that much! It is great when they ask questions about it and sometimes I'll flip it over to the back side (which is the same as the front, but grey and blank) to test what they've learned. Absolutely love it!!!

Great learning tool for kids
Buy all of them and you'll be amazed at what your kids retain from placemats.

Three Stars
The body part names are printed way too small, making it difficult to read w/o squinting.
