Authentic brand and works well
Replaced some old Gorton and Maid o Mist steam vents. These work really good so far. Replaced 5 all at once. Some were hissing before. Others banging violently. One didn’t get hot completely, maybe 3 coils would get hot and the remaining five didn’t. Don’t get cheap ones. The maid o mist was only 2 years old but we had heating issues since end of last winter. Just replaced all of them with these Hoffman 40’s and they look nice and super quiet now. Heated up quickly too. Hopefully these last at least 5 years before having to replace again.

Easy install works great
I tried a $8 vent from Home Depot and worked worse than the whistling one we’ve had for years. Found this on Amazon and it turns out the cost is worth it, this was easy to install and the whistling is all gone!

This one works great! Bought to replace a cheaper one I bought 6 months ago
Do yourself a favor. Don't cheap out on your radiator steam vent.As part of a home reno I had two steam radiators dipped, stripped, and refinished, then bought two new cheap ($19) steam air vents on Amazon to complete the job. Both cheap ones whined, gurgled, shot steam out the top, were so loud it was distracting my sleep. I lived with that situation for 4 months before buying one of these to see if it would work any better. Boy does it! I'll be ordering another and tossing those two cheap ones in the garbage.

No more constant hiss.
We have near 100 year old radiators in our home and original steam piping. I was told that the farthest from the boiler would always be "louder" than the rest; but the constant hiss, which was more like a "SHHHHHHHHHH" that required you to turn up speakers, was very annoying. One of my old vents (about 2 years old and look exactly like the $6 ones) went out and I decided to replace it with one of these. No noise - whatsoever! Amazing! So I ordered 2 more for the other "loud" radiator (we have to "ends") and one that had recently started to become noisy. Now - the whole house is quiet and the heat even kicks on/off less! So on top of being quieter, also gonna save my energy bills a bit!Hint: It may take you a couple of tries to figure out where to "start" screwing in the vent, but with a little experimentation, all have worked well. Also, if you have a little bit of drip, try reinstalling with a bit more teflon tape on it - works like a charm - each radiator has its own personality.

Hoffman Specialty by Bell & Gossett
The box I received is labeled 'Bell & Gossett (a xylem brand)' which makes 'Hoffman Specialty' (a trademarked name) air valves. The valve itself is labeled 'No. 40 Air Vent, Max Pressure 10 PSI, Hoffman Specialty' and it says assembled in USA. I haven't tried it yet

Worth it, better than $10 cheapo vents!
Great air vent - had one radiator with a bad air vent and needed a replacement. Chose this one after a bit of research and not only does it work great, the whole system is a lot quieter now. Bought two and plan to replace another older air vent, but may slowly replace them all with these. They’re a bit pricier than some options, but this is definitely a case of you get what you pay for.

Best steam vent I ever had!
Immediately after installing this steam air vent, my pipes stopped banging. I wished I had found this vent earlier. I will be purchasing more for all my radiators. My pipes have never been this quiet when the heat was on. One radiator that wasn't getting hot, is now hot. I am well pleased with this purchase so far.

Is this normal
Low pressure steam system feels colder at preset temp than with adjustable vents
