Catnip Essential Oil

I am fairly certain this is not Catnip Oil, but actually Tea Tree Oil. While I no longer have access to a spectrophotometer like I did when I was in grad school, and therefore cannot perform laboratory analysis and comparisons on this substance, Tea Tree is something I'm very familiar with and has an unmistakable odor. I am known for having an extraordinarily sensitive sense of smell, can often identify people and products by scent alone, and have even been branded a few times as "psychic" because my heightened perceptiveness seems to be an almost mystical quality. In other words, my olfactory sensitivity along with my advanced scientific training means that I trust my senses and what's more, am not one who is prone to hysterics or making strong statements that cannot be substantiated.I did not purchase this for my cat, as he is of the phenotype which is not reactive to catnip. If he were, I would use him to test this oil's catnip-ness. I bought it specifically to make mosquito repellent. With its medicinal odor, tea tree would probably have a similar (though not as strong) deterring effect on biting insects but my research into naturally-occurring repellents told me that catnip oil is the one I want. Granted, pure catnip oil is hard to come by so I settled on this product because it was available in a smaller quantity for a lower price.I may purchase another bottle of Catnip Oil from a seller I trust more in order to do a side-by-side comparison. If this first one turns out to indeed be catnip, I will update this review with my finding.I waited nearly two months to post this review to ensure I was not mistaken. After all this time, I stand by my initial gut feeling because it still smells like tea tree to me. I think 2 stars is more than fair as I am trying to be generous and give some benefit of the doubt.

Along with some other essential oils, this product did the trick in keeping ticks, chiggers, mosquitoes, fleas, gnats, flies and other bugs off me. We live in the country and the ticks & chiggers were just horrible this year but a homemade bug repellent mixed with soy bean oil has made it pleasant to go outside again. The soy bean oil and essential oils also leaves your skin soft and smelling good and I didn't have to use commercial sprays that smell bad and are not really good for you onto my skin. I will be ordering a larger size of this product again.

It's definitely potent- haven't tried it yet for bug repellent. I mixed a couple of drops with some water in a spray bottle and it seems to overwhelm my cats- in a bad way.

Bought this to help keep bees away ,it really smells and nothing was coming near me so I quests itworked

I used it to make a bug spray that worked well. I also put some on my dogs collars and the bugs left them alone to.

Picked this up to put into an oil vaporizer for one reason only, to make my kitties go f**king berzek. It defiantly delivered and smelled pretty good. No animals were harmed.

Horrible, cats did not like it and walked away. And they love the real catnip.
