River Path to incense heaven
Hello. I love Crystal Works in Austin and it smells like this. Can take you on a journey of walking near a beautiful soft almost floral stream. Great for meditation. Bless you all. Each coil burns a few hours yes hours. So good! I can’t describe the joy of this!

This is one of the best
I first bought this at a temple in Japan and hoarded it very carefully because I figured I would never see it again. It comes in a beautifully packaged box with delicate coils that are packaged between pieces of tissue so that they won’t break.Because the incense is in a coil, you need to balance the middle of it on a different kind of burner than the one you might be used to if you use stick incense.I found that the whole room could be scented with about 1/8 of a coil and then I could put it out for that day using a single drop of water on the burning end.Because this is really outstanding incense, it never has a burnt smell and it never smells sickly sweet. It permeates the room with a really marvelous floral, earthly and refined smell that you might associate with a temple or a very high-end artisans’ shop in Japan. Shoyeido is a four-hundred-year-old company (!) and this is their high quality line.Their less expensive stick incense is very nice but don’t think that you know what this is like if you’ve only used the stick incense!

Still my favorite incense since the late 1990’s ;)
I used to sell this in a gift shop in Alaska in the late 1990’s. It was very expensive then, and was still worth it. The price has remained close to what I paid then, so for me it’s a good buy. It has a beautiful scent and even people who hate incense, find this pleasant. I just break off small pieces of the coil whenever the room/house/sailboat needs a freshen up. I never burn the coil all at once, a little bit goes a long way if you break off what you need.

amazingggggggg
My favorite incense for decades now, but I only buy it every few years as a treat since it's so expensive. Also, I break off a piece of the coil to burn and NEVER burn the whole coil at once! Extreme wealth = burning a full coil. Feeling the stock market crashing = burning only a 1" piece of a coil.

Best Scented Incense I’ve Ever Smelled
Yes, this incense is expensive, but it smells so good I bought another box. I’ve never smelled any incense so divine as Shoyeido’s River Path. If there’s incense in heaven, it will smell like River Path. For me, it has a calming effect and aids meditation. It even calms my dogs down. I just love it, even though it is very pricey. It’s handmade by Buddhist monks in Japan, so to me the price is worth it to support them. If you can afford it, try it for yourself. I think it’s divine.

Expensive but exquisite
I discovered this incense in a specialty shop in China town more than 10 years ago and was thrilled to find it on Amazon. I'm a bit biased as the scent is very nostalgic for me but my wife loves it as well. Sort of pricey but the coils will make your house smell awesome. Wish I could find LISN incense that shoyeido used to make.

Don't expect the scent from a few years ago
Sadly this incense has gone way downhill from how it used to smell. It used to be pure aroma that burned for about 4 hours. Now it's smoky and burns in half the time. Still has a decent scent, but I believe they cut way back on the lovely benzoin resin.Really breaks my heart because I would pay more to have the old scent back....it's too bad when companies get big and popular and downgrade.
