Into The Storm (Blu-ray)

For storm movie fans
This movie isn't as good as Twister but it has great pictures of the tornados and lots of action that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Not a real story in the movie but something to hold it together. Acting just okay.Definitely worth a rental especially if you like storm movies.

Entertaining
Good movie if you want to watch Lori from the walking dead and Thorin Oakenshield from the Hobbit nearly get sucked up by a tornado. Also has Lil Kev from its Always Sunny in it. Plus that red headed guy from absolutely every comedy ever.

Unexpected Extras
I bought this "B" grade movie for the sound effects. Presented in DTS Master 5.1 meant that it would fill all 13 of my speakers by upscaling in DTS Neural X mode via my Denon full Atmos receiver. Sound is awesome. I was satisfied with just getting the Blu-ray disc. But, NO! It came with a standard DVD, nice gift for people who don't demand the best in reproductions. AND, a digital copy! The insert said it expired in 2017 via Ultra Violet (no longer in business). However, Movies Anywhere accepted the code and in seconds, I had a digital copy...much easier to get to the storm scenes for audio Nirvana. But wait, there's MORE! The digital copy featured Dolby Atmos!!! Talk about unannounced upgrades! I am jazzed!!!

Oddly done Tornado-themed movie
First off, Twister is one of my all-time favorite movies and this movie tried to compete against a great movie like Twister. It failed somewhat. The movie plot made sense somewhat in parts of the movie, but near the end of the movie, I thought the female meteorologist that was tracking these tornadoes & that widowed guy with the 2 sons would hook up as they went thru living hell with that huge tornado underground near the end, but nothing happened. They just went their separate ways. And those 2 foolish so-called "tornado hunters" driving that old Toyota pick-up truck.....plain stupid. Some parts of the movie was done just fine, especially at the high school and trying to flee that huge tornado by driving their vehicles and school busses out of the tornado's path before that tornado demolished their school. Tornadoes/clouds were done overall pretty good with some good special effects......but it still seemed not quite well done like Twister was done. I did watch the entire movie also and overall, not bad....but not nearly a 5 star movie. This movie could have been done better. The actors/actresses were "okay" overall, except for those 2 drunken guys that I don't even know why the movie producer put them into this movie.....to add humor maybe or stupidity possibility. 3 stars I rate this movie.

Tornado scenes are very well done.
I found this film fairly entertaining. I was looking for an interesting Richard Armitage film, and it had a favorite theme of mine--natural disaster. I thought the story was fairly average--teenage boys alienated from their school principal father, until disaster happens to bring them back together. I thought the tornado scenes and disaster/danger scenes were very well done. The story could have been a little deeper, I think. The only real issue I had with the film was one gratuitous G*D D*MN thrown in. I find it deeply offensive when such language is put in a film for kids. I don't like it when it's in a film for adults, but kids don't need to hear that. It is an unnecessary blasphemy that is too often present in todays films.

Once More into the Breach
Didn't we just watch this movie a decade ago? Oh yeah, they called it "Twister". Hello, Mr and Mrs Hollywood: we really don't need people just tweaking old movies because they think they can do a better job. We have George Lucas for that. It's basically the same stupid plot of every storm chaser movie and hardly a surprise to be had. OK; a fire vortex is a cool idea but you just wrapped up an old movie in a new box and pretended it was new. We, the audience, deserve better. So why don't I hate it? If you can get past the artistic failures of this film and just shut off your brain, this movie is a thrill ride for your eyes and ears. The bigger your theatre system, the better. And, if your pondering Blu-Ray vs standard DVD, this is the kind of movie Blu-Ray was made for.
