The Primal Vision is a profoundly thought-provoking book
His observations are sharp and his reflections deeply insightful. He has an amazing ability to tune into spirituality and recognise key elements in a completely different tradition from his own.

African spirituality
This book is not for everyone--depends on your interests--I am a theologian-philosopher and psychotherapist so I am interested in things that make people tick. African spirituality is one of those. The African world view is entirely different from our own--Christians need to understand their subjects well before they seek to impose their own versions on other cultures. To both African and Asian minds all things are living though dead. Following Jesus's words for us: Let the dead bury the dead."Better understanding is bound to bring greater results the world overRobert Haycraft--Placentia, Calif.P.S. Westerners tend to believe that African-Asians worship their ancestors. This is not true. They honor them and believe they are alive much the same as Christians may pray to the Virgin Mary or other saints--they venerate them but do not worship them. African spirituality the same.At best Christians believe their loved ones are in heaven or, et al. Africans believe they are alive and dwell among them.I think that if we honored our ancestors as well they would be walking among us still. And certainly as Americans, we owe them so much.We may view all this as superstition but nonetheless Africans have believed this for thousands of years. Therefore, it will not disappear readily.
