Overall enjoyed the book...sometimes it was difficult to follow because of the older type of language but the information was of great value

This book contains a complete nuts and bolts approach to preparing sermons. It shows how to structure the sermon, beginning, middle and end, and allows you to mould your subject matter into a format that will be readily understood and assimilated by the recipients. I am using this along with other books with different perspectives on the same subject, allowing me to tackle the preparation and delivery of a sermon with the best content, structure and delivery, starting as a novice. I recommend this as a primer for preparing sermons.

I’ve read a number of books on sermon prep but this one is the most understandable, concise, and helpful. A must read for preachers, or teachers of the Bible.

This is a very good resource book. It helped me to understand that after I have read about the culture and customs of biblical times, it really is my responsibility to somehow, make it relevant to my own culture and audience. Also, I must take the time to fully understand the text, in order to be able to bring it home, to whom I am speaking. Otherwise, I may not hit home for many of the people. Again, it is my job to grasp and hold the interest of my audience, in preaching the message from the text.

Great read! He gives a lot of information to the reader about preaching the word of God. It provides outlines and practical advice and information on preparing sermons.

I bought this book for a mentor who loaned me a much earlier version, as a gift I bought this up to date one.
