This is complex reading perhaps because it is not easily customizable to any ministry setting. There may be less complex reading available on the same topic. Perhaps the author would consider writing another edition that simplifies this edition.

So helpful in my preparing for research in congregations—perfect for pastors who are looking to interview congregants and discover more about how to listen to the concerns and joys of the people, and improve the aspects that need pastoral attention.

This books teaches a new paradigm in pastoral ministry. When we learn to see ourselves as 'ethnographers', we are gifted with a greater understanding of the many dimensions of our ministry. The stories she shares with us are right on target to guide us to where we need to be!

We used this book for a cultural anthropology class in my University. The book seemed poorly edited and had a significant amount of typos. Content wise, the author seemed to have an idea of what they were saying and it did give a good, credible explanation of what an Ethnography should contain.

I have enjoyed Ethnography as a Pastoral Practice and have assigned it as a text in a doctor of ministry course. It is well worth reading and utilizing the info whether you are a pastor or working in some other type of ministry setting. It will change the way to think about the folks you are trying to lead!

This is a good book for pastors to use. If you are already familiar with ethnography you will find most of this book a simplified review.

My "used" copy arrived in time as promised and was in great condition--like new! I can always rely on Amazon for the best bargains for my book needs.
