IittalaTaika Dinner Plate, White, 11-3/4-Inch

Stunning and amazing dinnerware set! Great for everyday or special occasions. This is a very heavy and large dinner plate (the other pieces in the collection are just fine and not overly heavy) so if you don't want a dinner plate that is super heavy and bigger then most, you may want to consider something else.I purchased a set of 12 for my 75 year old mother and we both just love them - stunning and beautiful but the plates are so heavy and large that we had to purchase a set of lighter weight (regular weight) dishes for everyday use because it was to heavy for my mother to lift and stack them in the cabinet. Of course we are keeping these for special dinners and we have dropped and bumped these plates into things and they didn't chip or break, very impressive! Love the design and quality and I suggest you get the whole collection (bowls,cups & small salad plate) like we did before they are no longer available anywhere(made in 2007). A keeper in my book!

It is a Romantic, imaginary, folk lore like design. It is very unique and original design. I can imagine the story behind and think music behind!The imaginary animals , imaginary trees and fruit. Also color combination!!!It is however difficult to see food on plate since food is between the busy pattern.It may not be a daily use plate but occasionally use it and enjoy “dreaming the cold north of European regions and what people thought about and talked about.I thought the plates and cups gave me emotional lift and Wang yo write piano music for it if I can produce it!!

Although this is an actual dinner plate, I purchased it as a decorative accent. It is equally stunning in red, but the cobalt is better with my decor.It looks great on my display shelf; it would look equally good on a wall.The detail is crisp and the colors are rich.

As in a previous review for the iittala mugs, these plates are very whimsical and a hot topic at dinners. People can't resist flipping them over to see where they're from and inquiring where to get them. The mix of blue dinner plates and cereal bowls, white salad plates and mugs makes iittala a very eclectic choice.

What's not to love? I'm so excited about my new dishes. This plate is nice and big so fits plenty of food.

Love this pattern. I have this plate and several cups/saucers/mugs in different colors. I give this pattern often as a gift and it's always loved.

I like the appearance of this plate and it worked in both the oven and dishwasher for 2-1/2 months. Today, however, it cracked in half in the oven while I was baking a piece of fish.

I own the entire set with six of everything... Dinner plates, salad plates, small dessert bowl, large dessert bowls, large salad serving bowl, tea cups and saucers. Yes the design is beautiful and whimsical, however I have a major complaint about the dinner plates which get used daily... They are so shallow/flat that this causes two problems. 1. Any dinner that is liquidy such as Crock pot or casserole spills all over the floor when you carry the play to the table. Secondly, when carrying finished dishes with knives and forks on the plates, they tend to fly off because again, the plates are so shallow. This to me is a major design flaw, and I would not purchase these again. However, if you plan on using these once or twice a year, I'm sure it will be fine. For daily use its annoying, but because I spend over $500 on the set, I'm going to suffer through because otherwise it's a waste of money . .
