Inexpensive DIY Coax Cable Tool. Every Home With coax should Have One.
Sometimes, I think I move cable around more than I change socks (and yes, I do change my socks every day!. My wife likes to rearrange the furniture in our home on a regular basis, meaning quite often. When this happens, 80% of the time, the TV, modem, and router gets moved as well, meaning I have to move the cable line. I literally have holes outside of my family room, living room, and bedrooms about every two feet, from all the previous moves. I no longer bother with filling in the holes I've drilled to run cable through, and now have a circular plate, on a hinge, to cover the hole. I just stuff insulation in each when they are not in use. Inside, I use a patch, the color of the paint, to cover those. I have become somewhat of an expert at running cable line, and attaching the connectors to the coax, although I actually didn't have the right tools for the job. The last time the cable guy was here to test my modem (kept dropping the signal) he was pretty impressed with my DIY cable connection jobs. When I ran across this kit, I figured it was time, and maybe make attaching connectors a little easier. This kit includes the connectors, which are virtually the same as the box one of the cable guys left me, and the two tools you need to do the job, a cable stripping tool, and a crimping tool. I wanted to test it out, and see if it worked like it should, and if it was easier to attach the connectors then my DIY way. On the first to about the 5th try, I was thinking this is junk, and doesn't work. But, after keeping at it, and figuring there must be something I'm not doing right, about the 10th one I figured out how to use it properly. Once you get it down, this is actually a pretty easy tool to use, and works exactly as it should. It's nothing fancy, and hardly the high grade, well made type of tools the cable guy uses, but it's also under $20 bucks for everything. If you buy this, and get frustrated like I did, don't give up on it, it does work, just takes a bit to get how it works. If you occasionally have to move a cable line, or more often like I do, this tool kit will do the job. No need to spend a lot of money for a stripper and a crimper you are gonna use about as often as Haley's Comet whizzes by, unless you plan on installing cable on the side. Currently there is not a price for this listed on Amazon, but I think this kit was going for about $15 bucks (no guarantee on this price, just an uneducated guess), and for that price, it's well worth the money, even if you only use it occasionally. I doubt cable will be going out of style any time soon and disappearing, so it'll still be good to use for years. A great little kit for very little money. A great buy.

Make you own coax cables
This is great for making coax cables! The cutting tool is so much easier and better than using a blade to cut back the outer layers of the cable, and exposes the perfect length of the wire. The crimping tool presses the end onto the cable, and the cable is ready to use. A good low price to help make cables that are the length you want.

I don't understand all the hate in other reviews. Easy and perfect!
I have struggled for years to successfully crimp my own coax cable runs. No more. This works perfectly. I just did 4 separate runs for an antenna based setup and could not be happier.I wish I had found this years ago.

Did not work at first
Have only practiced a couple of cuts. Did not work hardly at all, had to adjust the cutting blades and it seemed to cut the cable perfectly. I still have to run the new cable in the house.

Worked....eventually
The crimping tool functioned perfectly and repeatedly without issue. However, the cutting/stripping device was not consistent in its operation. The very first cut I made was perfect but when I made a second cut the blades appeared to have moved out of their setting and I didn't get the finish I required. It took several more attempts after adjusting the blades to achieve the correct cut. This was unexpected and disappointing. If using this tool ensure you have sufficient cable length to be able to make several cuts before getting the one required.
