A good read before or after Marriage
This was a Great Toilet to Bath read....I started on the s***ter and went right to the bath and finished...but had to stop at the sink first ...you don't want crap in your bath. If you want to know about marriage or life read Adrian's Scenes from an Impending Marriage; I found myself reading it out-loud to my wife and laughing. This book will make you laugh and cry and if it doesn't you are a real jerk :) or just maybe Autistic , Aspergers maybe a sociopath....nonetheless, then it isn't your fault.....just pretend to laugh.

Great engagement gift
My husband and I like his other work and my husband has even met him at a con. He is a super nice guy. This book it super funny if your currently planning or have recently planned a wedding. I like to give this as an engagement present to my friends. It gives them a laugh but also some insight on what's to come.

Tomine has also taken a less realistic/ more cartoony style that usual and it is used to great effect. I like this lighter Tomin
As a long time fan of Adrian Tomine since his early Optic Nerve days Scenes is a welcome departure from the all too heavy/ human tales he crafted of loss, woe and self-doubt. Scenes is also much more personal chronicling the days before the author's marriage . . . hence the title. Tomine has also taken a less realistic/ more cartoony style that usual and it is used to great effect. I like this lighter Tomine. After all that dreary realness it's nice to see there are smiles and happiness buried within.

Cute, Witty, Heart-warming
The description of the book pretty much sums up what you'll be reading in this short work. But it is delightful, heartwarming, and really fun to read. And as it's such a quick read, you'll probably read it again! It's relatable in many ways, even if you're not getting married anytime soon or ever, and it's so witty and humorous without throwing away serious matters either. A really lovely little piece.

Another great graphic novel by Adraine Tomine
I like how honest Adraine Tomine is. Also, the size of the book is cute.

Some cute scenes!
I'm a big fan of Tomine's other work, especially Summer Blonde. While this doesn't always rise to the same level of emotional depth, it was a quick, fun read that my fiancee and I both enjoyed.

Charming, Personal, Funny
My fiancee and I are planning our wedding, and this was a perfect little satire of our planning process. Recommended to those getting married and for those that consider themselves above all the nonsense surrounding the modern American wedding.

Amusing possibly hilarious engagement gift
I first read Scenes from an Impending Marriage in the midst of preparations for a wedding at which I was a bridesmaid, and it made me hysterical with laughter, as Tomine and his wife get sucked further and further into obsessing over the wedding details they told themselves they didn't care about.I have been told that mine was a strange reaction to the book, but if you've got a friend stressing about planning their wedding (or if *you* are stressed or bemused about a friend's upcoming wedding), I would highly recommend this as a gift. Unless the couple actually takes the whole wedding thing very seriously, in which case it might seem like you're mocking them (assuming that you *don't* want to appear to be mocking them).

Love it! Not the place to start but a wonderful read.
Love it! Not the place to start but a wonderful read. Each time I read it, the funnier it gets. This is a gift to us the readers from him the writer and them the couple because although a lot of his own experiences seem to have gone into his other work especially his earliest, this on the other hand is him/them without aliases, and the lead up to this very important day to them.More than this, it is laugh out loud funny all the way through and very true and yet personal to his style. Lovely funny little book.

Brilliant - this is one of the best
I saw this in The Economist recently and checked it out on Amazon. It is funny, hits exactly the right spots, and the male and female characters are just so typical. Everyone who has borrowed it has bought a copy for themselves. Just enjoy - it makes fun without malice.

Great book, as good as Shortcomings, but way too short!
If you read and enjoyed the Shortcomings, you will like the story - but the book is only about 50 pages long, and the size of a postcard, which is a bit disappointing.
