Eight Classic Albums

Lots of music for the price, but most of the songs sound similar. A few great classics here and there, but overall just OK. Get their greatest hits and trim all the fat.

If you love instrumental guitar and the Ventures. You'll love this 104 recordings from the 8 classic albums: Walk Don't Run 1960, Another Smash 1961, The Colorful Ventures 1961, The Ventures 1961, Twist with the Ventures 1962, Twist Party vol 2 1962, Mashed Potatoes and Gravy 1962, Going to the Ventures Dance Party 1962. Great guitarist and music you don't hear much today. Songs like Walk Don't Run, Ghost Riders in the Sky, Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom, Blue Tango, Yellow Bird, and much more. If you like their boogie woogie and Surfer music you'll love this. Must have for your collection!

First track on disk 1 had skips but all the rest were fine. Else I'd give the collection five stars. Great deal for Ventures fans. Sound is very good, better than many imports. Includes several single tracks.

This CD set contains the early albums of the Ventures. It is not a hits collection set, but there are a reasonable number of their hits among these albums. The audio quality is extremely good. All of the albums are in stereo, but the additional singles tracks are monophonic.A few of their early tracks have vocal accompaniment and, on one track, the vocals take the lead rather than the guitars. On The Real McCoy", the name of a television series from the late fifties, they do a reasonable job of imitating the voice of Grampa McCoy - Walter Brennan.This is a great set to accompany the three CD set of The Ventures hits, " Walk Don't Run ." There are several Ventures collections with the same name. The one linked to was produced by Castle Music UK and contains 63 tracks on three CDs.There are very good reasons why the Ventures charted so many hits and are still going. Highly recommended to those who already like the Ventures or great Rock 'n Roll instrumentals.

Most of the tunes are plainly fluff...tunes really never should have been recorded.Stick to Great Hits.

I don't agree with the commenter that complained about how these recordings were mixed for CD. I own a few of the LPs that are collected here and my opinion is that these are as I remember them from vinyl, albeit without the cracks and pops. A great sounding collection at an unbeatable price.

Excellent collection of music but there are absolutely no liner notes. That is the only reason I gave it four instead of five stars.

A Nice and colletibel CD with The Ventures first 8 lp 1960-1962..maybe The best period of good instrumental music. Good and natural sound and good stereo effekt. The American sound engineers works better with stereo that time that any other engineers in other countries in The World and they seems to have better recordings equipment.

This compilation set is great. Eight albums contained in four cd's covering their early years 1960 to 1962. Excellent listening quality sound especially in surround sound. If you like the Ventures then this is for you.

Good band, and if you are at all familiar with any of its work, you will know exactly what to expect, and won't be disappointed.Even better--just look at the 'give away' price!!A solid investment....!:

Good value 4 CD's for £10.88 but no info on the albums at all apart from the track listing on the back. I wouldn't have minded paying a few quid more for a booklet to go with it.
