Play Telstar & Ventures in Space

No complaints, so glad to have this brilliant piece of music.

I really enjoyed listening to the Cd - I use in my car and just to listen to it. Its great!

If you're a nostalgic Baby Boomer who enjoyed The Ventures' music back when it first came out in the '50s and '60s, you will love this CD. It's a great collection of the band's instrumentals and has the added benefit of its cover song's connection to an important and exciting historic event and time, namely, the launch of Telstar in the early, exciting days of the space program. But that's not what the album is all about. It's a wonderful eclectic collection of great recordings. In addition to Telstar, here are the other excellent instrumentals on the CD: The Lonely Bull, Mexico, Calcutta, Apache, Never On Sunday, Tequila, Green Onions, Percolator, Red River Rock, Let There Be Drums, Last Night, Out Of Limits, He Never Came Back, Moon Child, Fear, Exploration In Terror, War Of The Satellite, The Bat, Penetration, Love Goddess Of Venus, Solar Race, The Fourth Dimension, and The Twilight Zone. While nostalgic Boomers may love this album, as I do, it probably will get quizzical looks or a bored "Meh" from younger generations. In a telecommunications class that I teach at night, I play Telstar when, during our review of a timeline of telecom milestones, we get to the launch of the Telstar satellite on July 10, 1962. The students, who are all in their 20s and 30s, are conspicuously unimpressed.

This is as good as you get with the Ventures on CD. Take two of their strongest albums, put them on one CD, and make it available for less than $10. Anyone with even a remote interest in the Ventures or sixties guitar instrumentals will find this album a must. For music that is pushing the half century mark, the albums are still suprisingly accessible - my six year old daughter has been humming along with "Telstar" for weeks. As a consumer spoiled by more recent reissues (this CD release goes back to 1992), the liner notes and track information leave a lot to be desired, and at 52 minutes you would love to have some alternate takes or single only releases included to fill out the CD, but for the price the album is a great value. Now if they would only do this with the rest of the Ventures catalog......

This is a good cd of instrumentel music of the 60's, with 48 of there songs including Apache, Wipe-out, The Lonely Bull,Telstar and many of heir famous hits, My ex-step dad, helped them with many of there songs in Portland Or, when I was just a boy, he recorded some of the music with them, but was not a crediteded member of the band, when they needed an extra lead guitar, or base player. one of the band members had a studieo in his house, and would record music in his home after work, or would come over to our house in Boring Or, and would work on some songs, So I Got to Hear some of these, before there recordings.

Always liked the Ventures this two cd set just about completes my ventures collection. ..Would do business with this company again.

Awesome Surf Guitar and Space Age music from the 60's. Not great sound quality but very kool. About 6 non-surf or space tunes, that are cute but unrelated, but fun to listen to, Sound like background music from 60's movies. Very enjoyable.

Lo compré para regalárselo a mi papá y le gustó mucho. Afortunadamente es caja de plástico (no de cartón como creí que podría llegar), llegó en excelentes conficiones y el audio se escucha bien. En general el disco es de buena calidad y el envío llegó mucho antes de lo esperado.
