The only reason I'm giving it 3/5 stars is simply because the quality of the book is misleading. When I ordered this for my class, it said the book was in good condition. I fear that the book's front and back covers may rip further by the time I'm done with my class. Of course I will keep the rental till I'm done, yet other renters be aware of being mislead.

This is a great book for sociology class! I took the class in the summer and had to write several essays a week for all the chapters in this book. This book was very easy to understand and had lots of examples in order for me to relate and use the information for my essays.The price is also not bad compared to other expensive textbooks I had to buy. All in all it does its job as a book and is not confusing or uses big words that you would have to look up in order to understand the reading.

If you are planning on renting. I would advise you not too. They book I got was not in the best condition. But it will work. Spend the extra money for a new book.

All I can say is that I learned a lot from this book during lecture time in class. I used almost every single day in class for all my assignments and homework for my sociology class. If you taking a sociology class, then I would recommend it to anyone that needs this specific book.

Book for class. I can only read it on my Kindle and no other Kindle apps. I wish it was available in the cloud so that I can put it on a device, like the Kindle app on my desktop or laptop.

Renting this book for my upcoming semester at College. This book is in great condition, granted I thought it was going to be a little poor only because I am only renting it. But this book is high quality and it makes me so happy that I don't have to spend so much money on a book I may only use once. Thank you for this wonderful option, it helps so many students!

The author writes this book as if he was sitting in front of you and you both were having a conversation over coffee. I love his writing style, his ways of simplifying his teachings. The stories he tells at the beginning of each chapter have me reading in advance. If you are planing to take into to sociology find a professor who uses this book!
