I bought these because rPET plastic is supposed to be a fairly environmentally-friendly material, though I suppose that depends on whether you're more concerned with material and energy usage, or microplastic release. Anyway, it's strong, light and durable.The other reason I bought it is because it's got a rigid base that keeps the bags upright in the trunk of my car. I used to have floppy plastic bags, and there's just no way to pack them without having your groceries flying around when you whip around a corner (I am frequently chased by international assassins on my trips to the grocery store, necessitating tight turns, rapid acceleration, and occasional jumps).One weird thing about these bags is that they have two sets of handles. One shorter set is meant for carrying the bag dangling in your hand. The other is for carrying over your shoulder, presumably. The problem is that these four individual straps become a confusing rat's nest whenever you're trying to open the bag. For my use, I just cut off the shoulder straps with scissors, simplifying the situation greatly. If you regularly carry a grocery bag over your shoulder, I'd cut off the other set of handles. I'd never want two sets of handles, but that's me.Anyway, good bags.
