Any piece of scientific writing by Dr. Balakrishnan is a delight to read. Not only the succinct sentences, but the transition from one topic to the next make every section a brilliant read. One doesn't forget what he/she read in the previous section, for instance, simply because he amalgamates the arguments so well.I'm not qualified to comment on the selection of topics or the method of his teaching, since this is my exposition to the broad area of nonequilibrium statistical mechanics. But there is one thing I can say for certain: this book is an excellent reference to his nptel course on Nonequilibrium Statistical Mechanics.

Prof. Balki is well known for his ability to breakdown complex concepts into simple, intuitive ideas; using a combination of mathematical rigor and deep physical insight. Seldom has this rapidly evolving subject ever been so captivating taught. I wish all the students and teachers who are using this book, a happy reading!

A really nice book from Balki. The tone of the chapters is like the one he follows in his lectures. It has good theory as well as the required mathematics in detail which find applications in both physics and biology.
