Cliffhanger and abuse.
I finished this only hoping Clayton learns to back off and chill the heck out. He doesn't. He's controlling, rude, and throws his money around to keep his friends and lovers hanging on. I forced myself to keep reading only to find it ends in a cliffhanger. I won't be buying the next one.

Abusive relationship portrayed as romance
I donât remember the last male main I hated as much as I hated Clayton Afton Sinclair. Heâs violent (he strikes Sophie in anger and physical correction was never a negotiated or agreed-upon part of their relationship, he has to be pulled off another man who expresses interest in her), heâs controlling (he insists on knowing the details of her previous relationships without sharing his own, he attempts to dictate what she wears and when she can drink), creepy (heâs way too enthusiastic about her virginity), and prone to chilling rages (which are sometimes prompted by misunderstandings).Sophie is a spoiled law school drop-out. She meets Clayton when she decides to celebrate her decision to quit school and become an artist by blowing her savings on an exclusive luxury vacation in the Maldives. Her wealthy parents are quite clear that they will not support her as an artist, so Iâm not sure what she plans to live on once she spends on all her money by treating herself to a once-in-a-lifetime vacation. Maybe she thinks sheâll get commissions right away? She never does anything but sketch in this book, so the problem may be pressing for her sooner rather than later.Sophie, despite her social advantages, perfect body, model-like good looks, and the existence of an ex-fiance, is a 23-year-old virgin. Why? We never really find out, sheâs just kind of awkward (in a cute romance novel way, not in an âactually awkwardâ way). In reality, she is a virgin so that Clayton can get all excited about it when he over-hears here discussing it with her friends. Despite going to high school and college in one of the biggest cities in the US and having all the advantages of her beauty and social status, she never found anyone to have sex with â even during her extended engagement. Itâs not a religious or cultural thing. It just doesnât make sense in 2016.The first person she meets on the island is Clayton Sinclair, a handsome British billionaire who is also an aristocrat. He immediately falls for Sophie and begins exercising control over her life. They quickly fall in âlove.âSomewhere along the line, the term âalphaâ has lost its meaning to some authors. People. A man who hits you in anger, who hides his past while insisting on knowing every detail of yours, who forbids you from wearing certain clothing because he doesnât want others to see what is âhis,â who restricts your movements, who curses freely but tells you not to do so, who controls what you eat and drink, who has to be restrained from beating your ex â that isnât an alpha. Thatâs just an abusive vacation fling who wants to be an abusive boyfriend. Choosing your own clothing shouldnât make a man âlivid.â That these things happen when Clayton and Sophie have literally known each other for days doesnât bode well for the levels of violence, control, and manipulation later in their relationship. The writing in this book is okay (although the author has a terrible habit of using Sophieâs narration to call attention to the artificiality of the scene, saying things like âI felt like I was in a bad romantic comedy.â No. Youâre in a contrived scene written by someone who has watched too many bad romantic comedies). But Clayton is so abusive and awful that it killed my interest in watching this relationship progress.

Annoying cliffhanger...
This one caught me by surprise with the cliffie. Shame on me and glad it was free. Not interested in reading further anyway. We all know what happens. More immature behavior, more misunderstandings, more domination, more abuse, more interlopers, and another cliffhanger! No way.Sophie had moments of admirable strength but it was overshadowed by her immaturity, gullibility, insecurity and then weakness. The only redemption the story had was Sophie's two sidekicks. The banter was sometimes very amusing. Clayton? Not much redeeming about his character. Rich, demanding, dominating, unapologetic A-hole.

Not interested in book 2
Sophie is 23 and very immature. If I had to hear one more time about her virginity I was going to scream. As it was she mentioned it up to chapter 11. Clayton was a jerky one minute and all sweet the next. Several sex scenes start out forced and while they are mad and arguing. The book ends with a cliffhanger but I'm not interested enough to read it.

Couldnt get into it
Hated everything about this book. I live alpha males but the hero was just bossy and annoying and his treatment of the heroine and how ditzy her character was with him forces you to constantly remember that she was only 23 with no experience. Their relationship did not feel romantic at all. More statutory than anything. Maybe I will tried finishing it but this was really painful

Crazy new love!
To start with, Iâm surprised at so many of the reviews of this book. I started not to read it because of the comments about Clayton being abusive. He never hit Sophie. So what if he was a Neanderthal caveman at times, some women like that. I find it enduring. The boy has issues from childhood. The part about clothes wasnât like reviews said so much. Some of it went a little too far yes, but I could see his point after they got where they were going. Clearly, he would have to be put in his place on some things before a serious relationship.I have to say, I loved the book. Wish it didnât have a cliffhanger but that ending through me for a loop. I still give it 5 stars. I read it straight through pretty much. The gay friends were hilarious. I hope the next book is set on the island. I loved the people. This was written well. The way people talked, I thought he got violent. Iâm disappointed there wasnât even any real spanking lol.

Good story, Disappointing Ending
Such a great love story, but I despise endings that aren't complete and require the purchase of another book. Why do authors do this? Nevertheless, I want to know what Clayton's intentions are and if he truly is a scoundrel? Or are the paparazzi out to fool the public just to sell another rag? Will Sophie keep her wits, stick to her stubborn style or give in and get the truth? So many unanswered questions. My favorite part of the book, the private island & villa, of course. Super romantic and so easy to imagine for my own rendezvous in the Maldives or other tropical beach locale. The story is very entertaining & engaging. Looking forward to the conclusion.

This book is like all the rest
Firstly i have to say there is nothing exceptional about this book. I was fooled by the positive reviews. This book is like all the rest, and trying to be the next fsog. It wasn't. The plot was quick and easy, the heroine is annoying with half the book being her inner monologue, she falls in love with the guy in about two days after sleeping with him. There is no excitement and hardly any plot. I did however enjoy the two best friends, that's it. Do not waste your money, honestly, and if i ever hear the word virgin or baby again it will be too soon.

Fabulous characters, love the story
Oh my goodness me you cannot leave it there!!! Having been thoroughly sucked in by the characters and their story I cannot believe where it ended (well I can and it's a great cliffhanger but, you know, I felt upset at the time). I'm really not at all sure what I think of Clayton...I'm currently annoyed at him but reserving judgement....for now! Just know that Erik and Orie steal every scene that they are in!!??

Lovely story......
Great story with a sad ending.I'm heart broken.I love these characters so much.Sophie is so insecure and not confident in herself at all.She sometimes needs a rocket up her arse but her friends seem to realise this and are her driving force. Can't wait to read the next book to find out if he really is a love đrat.

Really enjoyed it
I loved this story the characters were likable and the story flowed.I enjoyed the way Colet writes as it is easy to follow. The story is one that most will be able to relate to if they have ever had a holiday romance, obviously not on this scale though. Would like to read more and will be downloading the next book in this series.

Mad Love
I read all the way through but I dont know why. This book struck me like I was reading 50 shades of something and most of the script was just sex sex and more sex but to be honest it was ok .
