FRAM PH3976A Heavy Duty Spin-On Oil Filter

The filter seems to have survived OK, but the packaging was pretty beat up.

Product is exactly as described. Fit perfectly with my 2018 RAM 3500. Had no issues putting it on. Purchased this and a MOPAR filter just in case this one didn’t work out. Worked great! Highly recommend. This filter stops 97% of those micro particles that do more damage too your engine than dirty oil!

Have yet to see any longevity out of this long life filter

Fram always works well

It's an oil filter.

I purchased this filter simply to cut it open and compare to a Fleetguard lf16035. What I found was what appears to be standard cellulose media. The lack of the wire backing seems to confirm this. From the stories I have read about Fram this seems like another fine day in the quality control department.UPDATEAfter reaching out to Fram this was their response. "This specific blend allows the XG3976A filter to perform on these applications, exceeding 99% efficiency testing down to 20 microns. Though it looks different, this is why the filter is part of the FRAM Ultra oil filter product line. We like to remind our customers that due to the volume of filters that FRAM offers, the images on the box are only a reference and not necessarily a depiction of the specific filter." The website mentions a "rigid metal screen support" and "Ultra Synthetic oil filter has the ultimate dual-layer synthetic media which provides up to 20,000 miles of engine protection." Not one place could i find a disclaimer backing up their claim. Maybe it was simply a false advertising issue and not quality control.
