therapeutic!
I am a social worker who works with transitional age youth (roughly 18 - 25 yrs) and keep this in my 'fidget bin' on the coffee table in my office. They all really love it and it gets used frequently. I especially appreciate the shiny color shifting ones because the shifting colors are visually interesting and calming. The putty itself does not have a smell to it and never gets too hardened or cumbersome to manipulate. I am considering purchasing one of the smaller sized ones as this full sized one is larger than the palm of one's hand and having a second smaller one in a different color will provide more options. The full sized one is not 'pocket sized' - i think the mini would be better suited for a purse or pocket.

This is the putty you're looking for.
Well, this stuff is just delightful. I have ADD and was looking for something fun and quiet to keep my hands busy at work. I'm at a call center, and sometimes I need something to help me focus. This is more than I could have asked for.I've actually been eyeing the Crazy Aaron's Thinking Putty for years, and the price was great, but the cool chromatic color shift putty sold me. It has a green/gold shift that's hugely entertaining. What Amazon didn't tell me was that the Oil Slick putty has a shape memory! Twist it or swish it and watch it showily shift to its original shape. It will flatten out in the tin for this reason, which is fun to pry out of the tin later on. Overall, there are no negatives with this stuff (except the given that hairs can get stuck in it if you aren't careful) and I already want a second tin to keep at home!Update 3/7/2021: I had this same tin of putty that stayed in the same great condition until we moved last year when I misplaced it. I just reordered a new tin of my old favorite and thought people might love to know that if well cared for, this putty will last for years! I still have the same job but I’m now getting a 2nd degree and this helps me focus while I study these days. Happy putty-ing, all!Edit 2: Dang, I suspect they changed the formula of this stuff. It is so dang sticky. I swear my old batch wasn’t like this. The only tip I’ve found so far is to cool the putty down so I’m going to stick it in the freezer for a bit then see if that helps. Or if natural skin oils unstick it over time.

Need to Keep Your Hands Busy?
Being in quarantine for me means being on the phone a lot, and pacing around the house. I can't keep still. With this silly putty I'm able to sit and listen a lot better. I roll it into little balls, stretch against itself, make littles statues, press down like a steel drum in it's metal tin, twist it, roll it, push my through my closed hand like a chicken laying an egg etc. This paticular color is really pretty, almost mesmerizing. If I had to crticize it, I would say I wish it stayed more cool to the touch, but it's not a big issue. Also, I wish it was a little easier to make crackling sounds/bubbles with it.One last note, if you get it, make sure to keep it away from your pets, and your maniucure.

Great Putty!
This Thinking putty comes in a great huge metal tin that before you even see your putty makes you love it. Although it can be a little difficult to get out of its tin if you practice it quickly becomes easier. It is a lot of putty! At 3.2 oz it is way more than you get in a little plastic egg. Now for the color. At first when I took mine out of its tin I thought "this is not grey-black! This is dark green! I soon saw that I was mistaken. Under different lights at different angles the color changes from dark green, to graphite-oil grey, to a emerald green, or a greenly yellow. If you roll it up in a coil and let it sit in its tin it will soon take on a oil look. It seems to have little glittery sparkles in it, probably that is what makes it change its color. Also if you put it in its tin or a clean surface like its tin and press down on it and lift it will look like a beautiful marble smooth sparkly surface. This putty does not seem to stick to things as much as silly putty does and has a very nice texture to it. The only problem is it can easily pick up dirt and grime. You can not wash the grime out so you just have to knead it back in. If you are in a bad mood, or you want some stimulation then take it out of its tin and begin kneading! Sculpt it, knead it, stretch it, Anything you like, it really does help! Overall I love this putty and I think I shall get some more soon.P.S. I found, a useful way to get the putty out of its container. If you use a Popsicle stick or a craft stick and insert it underneath the putty and push up you will be able to easily get the thinking putty out.

Great Gag Gift for "Environmentals"
My father is an environmental engineer, so I thought this would be a nifty little gag gift for Father's Day- something to keep on his desk, play with when he needs a break or start conversations with clients. The tin is big for the actual product but it spreads out, and its difficult to grasp and get out of the tin. But true to its name, it certainly looks like a gross iridescent oil sludge spill in a can; somewhat pretty,in a weird way. Fun to stretch and pull and flip around (if you're the type that likes playing with regular putty, clay or bread dough, then you'll love this stuff).Price-wise, $10 is pretty steep, considering I can buy silly putty at the dollar store, but its a specialty novelty, and this fit precisely for my father and he likes it, so I would definitely recommend it for anyone with a friends or relative working in the oil refinery/environmental industry. My father-in-law worked for Exxon for 30 years, I might get him some 'Thinking Putty' for Christmas!
