Great combination, big sound good price
We recently had to replace our much loved JBL wireless sub that we thought was a great sub. It was replaced with the Definitive Technology SuperCube 4000 for which I have not yet posted a review but check it out in a day or so as I can tell you it will get 5 stars. Getting the new sub for some reason inspired me to go about replacing the whole surround sound system which was, or partially still is an older, maybe 12 years old Bose Accoustimass 5.1 system which I didn't think I'd ever give up. Well, I decided to by to Definitive Technology BP6B's floor standing Bipolar speakers. Again, I invite you to check there in a day or so for my 5 star review. Okay, now on to the Definitive Technology ProMonitor 1000 center channel speaker. After a few days of listening to the new speakers mentioned above along with the remaining Bose center and satalites my wife said she thought we could really benefit from a new center channel speaker because she felt that the tiny Bose speaker was lacking in the full sometimes warm sound especially when listening to male voices. That same feeling also seems to affect female voices as they can sound too shrill or just missing out on some lower midrange that makes it sound great. I began comparing all of the Def Tech center channel speakers omitting some that were out of our affordability. It came down to the ProMonitor1000 and 2000 models. I chose the 1000 for several reasons. The 2000 was a bit large for where it needed to be placed and wall mounting it was not an option. We have a fairly mid sized living area and I felt that the 1000 would be more than adequate at handling the duty of a center channel speaker. Price wasn't really a big problem when comparing it to the 2000 but since I didn't feel that we needed a larger speaker that we really didn't have the room for the 1000 was my choice. Well, it arrived and we set it up a few days ago and we were totally blown away by the difference it made. We of course used the automatic speaker setup feature of our Pioneer receiver and accepted those settings making no changes. When we used the Bose speaker I sat listening trying to imagine what I thought it should sound like and that is very difficult to do. We have to give the highest marks to the 1000's as they do exactly what I would expect a great center channel speaker do. It is very hard to describe what has changed with the sound. Since we had a little time to use the floor standing BP's with the Bose we are convinced that the PM 1000 changed the sound field that was being produced for the center channel dramatically. Some male voices have a certain husky sound to them and others just need to sound deep and warm. The PM 1000 brought that to life and we sat for hours listening to all sorts of program types from music to movies. The midrange speakers along with the tweeter really helped to bring out all of the mid and upper frequencies needed for female voices whether they are speaking dialogue or singing. The sound is truly amazing. Unless you have a fairly large area that you are trying to fill with sound this speaker should do well at creating accurately the sound that you should expect to hear from a center channel speaker. A large listening area might require the PM2000 which a little bit larger. Definitive Technology is the company to buy from and Amazon is an authorized dealer. I also advise that you buy from an authorized dealer and that information can be gotten from their web page.

Plays nicely with Q Acoustics 3000i series speakers
The Q Acoustics 3000i series was being discontinued as I purchased its tower and surround speakers. Couldn't find the 3090ci center channel anywhere for a decent price to round out my home theater setup. SO, I tried the Procenter 1000 after extensively reading online reviews. Most mentioned clear dialogue and capable all-around sound for music and t.v. shows, especially for its modest price and dimensions. And some noted its compatibility with other speaker brands. It sounds fantastic in my smallish living room. Importantly, it complements the Q Acoustics speakers. I could be missing timbre discrepancies that serious audiophiles might object to. But I pay attention more than many, and appreciate what I'm hearing with the Procenter 1000. My opinion: Give it a try! Five stars *****.

Believe what you've read!
After endless searching, I found the one. Recently I've decided it's time for an upgrade of my surround system. I recently bought an Onkyo receiver and am upgrading my speakers one by one and thought I'd begin with the centre channel speaker. After searching for many hours and reading many reviews, constantly skipping over Definitive Technology I decided I'd read into the brand. Many people on here seem blown away by the performance and price of this speaker, so I decided to give it a shot! As I live in Australia, I took a risk and bought it without listening to it first. It arrived a week earlier then expected, so I pulled it out and hooked it up, replacing my previous cheap centre speaker. I began watching TV and then a good action movie. WOW... It's loud! My previous centre speaker had to be turned up quite a bit, I had to turn this centre speaker down a lot just so it didn't drain out my cheap (but pretty good sounding) floor standing speakers. I realise this speaker will take a long time to break in (50 hours I've read) but straight out of the box from my experience, it is superb quality and sounds great. It's also a lot smaller then most centre speakers so it fits almost anywhere perfectly. The dialogue was very crisp and clean and didn't sound muffled at all. The sound fills the room and carries quite a distance which is all I want from a centre channel speaker. To summarise, this speaker sounds great and it's LOUD. It makes my floor standers sound, well.. crappy. I'm going to purchase all Definitive Technology speakers to complete my new set up. You won't be disappointed at the price and sound of this product.

Get It!
So I started out with the Def Tech 600's in my cart. As I was reading all the reviews about those I changed my cart load to Def Tech 1000's and the 2000 center speaker. Well by the time I added up the cost of the projector, the screen, the tuner and the speakers I realized I wasn't willing to pay that much. So I ended up purchasing the Energy Take 5.1 Classics for the cost of the Def Tech center speaker. This is my 10th home theater build and this time I am in a condo not a house so I knew I would be limited on bass and figured the smaller speakers would be fine. Well the satellites were but the center was kinda muddy (for me). So I purchased the Def Tech ProC 1000. Would have bought the 2000 but I needed white and they only come in black (for those of you in the know, the Take 5.1s are black also, but at their price point I sanded them down and painted them white.) Well if you have a small to medium room (mine is 18x20) Don't hesitate to pick up this ProC 1000. It sounds excellent. Very clear dialogue, warm tones and it paired nicely with the Take 5.1 satellites. Light years difference with this center channel added. I started wondering if I should have just picked up the whole def tech ensemble but realized that if I want to keep my neighbors friendly I have just what I need. If you are in the market for small speakers with great sound this is a very sweet setup with a high WAF/HAF (wife/husband approval factor) and will make your movies pop. If you are looking for the ultimate home theater system you aren't reading this review :) One side note. If you are in a house and want small speakers but want some rockin base pick up an SVS sub to pair with this. They are the best IMHO at providing awesome bass at a price point for the average person. My new system: Epson powerlite 2030 projector Yamaha RX- V475 Receiver (5.1) Energy Take 5.1 Classic (except center speaker) Definitive Technology ProCenter 1000 Elite 125" motorized screen Hope this helps. Looks and sounds good. If you are on a 2k budget and live where you can't kill it, this is a good system. Best of luck

Smaller but powerful center channel speaker......
There have many reviews about this center channel speaker, so I will keep it short. This speaker would not have been my first choice. I was looking for a Definitive Technology speaker, and one that would fit a certain measurement on my entertainment center. That speaker would end up being the Procenter 1000. I would have preferred a larger speaker given my set up, but I was not given much choice with the measurement I had. I ordered the Pro1000 with the intent on sending it back because it just could not produce the sound I wanted to hear. I was dead wrong. This speaker produced the sound I needed and more; I could not believe the output of this speaker. I have paired this with PSB speakers, and it fits in seamlessly sound and power wise. After a bit of burn in, it really started to shine. Don't be put off by the size of this speaker, it puts out the power and quality you will need for a small to medium sized room. I originally wanted the Pro2000, but it was just too big for my ent. center so I had to "settle" on the 1000. There is no settling with DT speakers - you get the quality and power you need, even if you have to down size. Fear not, take it from a home theater enthusiast that is used to power, this speaker will not disappoint.

Perfect Size, Perfect Sound
I bought this shortly after I bought a Def Tech ProSub 800 for the 3.1 setup in my bedroom. Its size is exactly what I wanted, and the frequency response is amazing. The automatic setup I used with my Onkyo receiver surprised me in two ways. It set the crossover frequency at 40 hz, and the sound level lower than that of the two main speakers. Typically a center speaker has to be set louder than the mains to make it easier to hear voices when watching a movie; not so with this one. The voices are crystal clear, and I donโt have to boost the volume of the center channel to hear them. The low crossover is an unexpected bonus. I highly recommend the ProCenter 1000 to anyone looking for a center speaker.

I was not expecting it to sound as good as it does
At this price range it would be expected to read a review anticipating that you're about to learn all the trade-offs involved with adding this center channel speaker to your system. Well, sorry to disappoint. It's clear, it has the right presence, it blends well with speakers from different brands, it projects dialogue from movies and shows with a nice and natural timbre, it treats vocals in music with lots of love when listening in multi channel stereo, and it seemingly disappears from sight on my entertainment center just below my TV. I don't have anything negative to say about this thing except that it's not a looker if you're an anti-grill person. It's a perfect complement to a system running bookshelf speakers. I imagine you would want to run a bit larger center channel if you've got towers or other large speakers that neighbors hate. I've listened to this with a few pairs of speakers and it just performs. This center channel should cost more, but I don't set the prices. Worth every penny, though.

An absolutely tremendous small and compact center speaker. Great clarity, great sound, since any space
I am not a fan of any single speaker type or company. I typically will read the reviews and pick out something that meets my budget but sounds a good quality. And, I am not the person to ask if you're interested in the most expensive or the highest and speaker. I like my music. I like good sound. And I can appreciate quality. I do not however believe that it's necessary to " break the bank" to get decent music and sound out of your TV. And, I do like listening to the occasional vinyl record. I did want to increase some of the sound quality coming-out of the stereo and also to improve my TV sound when I was using it to drive to stereo speakers. I have limited space but have been familiar with the Definitive speakers in the past. I've never been disappointed. These are very small and compact. The sound output is excellent. Voices are clear when used with the TV. Music is sharp and crisp when used with a stereo system. This is about as small a center speaker as you can get and it nicely fits into my cabinet. Five stars for quality, space awareness, and versatility. If you're looking for a Small Ctr speaker, this is one to consider

Small form, Big punch!
Clear crisp dialogue , pretty impressive for its small form factor. you cant go wrong with this , if you want good center speaker without burning your pocket, i'd say Def Tech is something that you should consider. It is recommended to have bit of burn in time to get optimum output.

Impressive sound!
Center channel have better voice pick-up with movies and the speaker can definitely handle the explosive volume of John Wick and the super hero movies (-

Very good centre channel that fits perfectly into my TV stand
Like the other Pro Cinema 800 components that I have, this speaker sounds way better than you would think. I love the white speakers as well. It blends in great with my TV stand and it looks much cleaner that my previous black speakers.
