Is the hard plastic toxic
On the day fter the first pill was crushed, I noticed a slight chemical smell in the crusher. It is noticeabley worse today (1 week later), and smells like a toxic processed plastic material. When I crush the same pill medicine (wrapped in paper) with a hammer, there is no such toxic smell. Since I have a daily log of my dog's dosing of all meds, as well as his symptoms, I just now looked back at the date his IBD condition worsened (nausea and constitutional symptoms), I discovered that the date I started using this pill crusher coincides with the progressive worsening of his condition. I'm really concerned that his new symptoms are related to a toxic plastic byproduct. I will stop using the crusher, and crush his odorless pills (in paper wrap) with a hammer. I hope he will recover from this, and wish I had a way of knowing the basic, if not detailed, component composition of this pill crusher. I wonder if acute exposure to the material is what has accelerated his deterioration over the past week that I crushed his Carafate pills with this product. This is really terrible, and I would hope that there is some data somewhere that addresses the nature of the plastic material, as well as risks of possible toxic ingestion of by-products associated with either the hard plastic itself, or the blue coating on the crushing surface.

It works
It crushes pills. It didn't solve my problem though, because my dog is smart enough to smell his medicine when it's intact or crushed. Actually crushing them made the taste of his food bad. I should know. I tried it and I didn't like the taste either so I can't blame him there.

Issues with the lid
I've used this for about a month and it is difficult to get it started on the right track or threads. You have to twist with some force to crush the pills which isn't difficult, but if you aren't on the tracks it is VERY easy to get stuck and difficult to unscrew the lid. I would estimate the lid got stuck 50% of the time and I was careful to try and avoid this from happening. I got the lid so stuck that I can't unscrew it (neither can my boyfriend) so I'll be going back to using a spoon.

it's OK, but I don't really use it
don't really use this ... insted I got the pill pockets and those work easier with a lot less mess... so this was basically a waste of money.

Good for large pills
I purchased this to use in crushing a small pill for our cat. It did not work and I reverted to using the back of a spoon. I think it would probably be useful for crushing larger pills.

made it completely useless.
Shouldn't have bought it, should have "listened" to the other reviews, but I thought it would be different for me, but it wasn't. I could get it to thread on perfectly.....IF there wasn't a pill in it. But I couldn't get it to thread on for the life of me with a pill in it, which, of course, made it completely useless.

Works exactly as advertised
I purchased this so that I could crush pills for my cat. It works just as advertised. You simply unscrew the top, place the pill in the base, than screw the top down to crush it. It also has the added benefit of a storage area in the top for the pills.

Powdered pills!
My husband's 18+ year old cat is so hard to pill, pretty much impossible. I just got this thing today and popped one of his supplements in and it's powder now!! Gonna be really easy to mix this into his wet food! Thank goodness for this item!
