RICK HINDERER KNIVES Extreme Duty Pen

I needed a pen that was solidly built, reliable and one that could take tough weather. I really like this pen as it does all three -- easy refills and feels great in the hand. I've got large hands and have no difficulty in gripping or writing for periods of time. It is heavy, nearly 3.5 ounces, so it may not be a good fit for a smaller hand. I've used it in my office, hunting and fishing. It always delivers! If you don't like the weight, try Rick's titanium pens -- super light and the same solid workmanship.

I just received this pen yesterday, and let me tell you, it does not dissapoint! It is extremely well crafted and machined properly. It fits in the hand perfectly and writes great! It is a bit on the heavy side, but that's what I wanted. It's 3.6 ounces which is roughly the size of my XM-18 Wharnie.If you are interested in a great writing tool, that looks amazing and one that can double as a self defense tool, this is your best choice! Rick Hinderer never seems to dissapoint!!! Great product!

I really like this pen! There are plenty of options for those people who want a light weight pen made with Aluminum. I wanted something in stainless steel that is bomb proof. This is it. It is a reasonably priced, heavy duty, great machining and with the space pen refills, writes great.

great quality, impressive craftsmanship. this pen is heavy duty, and means business. it feels heavy in the hand and instill a sense of confidence as a self defense device. the fisher space pen refills make it really convenient, and it writes great. mine is starting to patina, which is really cool! it looks awesome!

I really like the pen, but Hinderer customer service sucks. Bad. I needed a replacement cap and was unable to ever contact anyone at Hinderer to get it replaced. Found a replacement on another website, got it and will never buy another Hinderer product. Their stuff is well made, but far overpriced; comparable products are available at half or less the price.

Great pen. Actually works great for writing too. The grooves on the exterior are sharp so I put some black o-rings to improve the feel and look. Was a cheap, nice touch. Very well built. Love it.

Cool pen. Did not ship with rubber o-ring that can be fitted between the threads and the main shaft so that the rubber holds the cap in place. The pen should include two o-rings. One for each end to be rolled into place just past the threads where the cap screws on. It's made to accommodate this so was surprised the o-rings were not included or already in place on the pen. I returned this brass one and ordered a green one made of aluminium instead. Hoping it comes with the desired o-rings. If not, the pen is cool enough I'll try to find a couple o-rings locally. I have one of their "investigator" pens and it came with at least one of the two needed o-rings and that is how I discovered how nice it is to have that part. The cap even screws on/off quicker because it doesn't need to "travel" so far when you twist it.

As noted this is an 'Extreme' duty pen and for me a bit too much. The pen is well made but it is very, very heavy.And it is too long at the tip for me to hold like a regular pen making writing with it uncomfortable. The weight makesit difficult to write with as well. On the other hand if you want to break a window the weight will certainly help but Ican't see carrying this around in a pocket, maybe a pack or bag but not pocket. I have the Investigator pen andI like that one a lot more due to lighter weight and feel in the hand. If you want a heavy duty pen with some realweight this is the one but if you're looking for a daily use pen I'd suggest one of the lighter models. I'm going totry an aluminum model and see how that works.
