This book has a huge number of (large) photos, and the written material is very interesting & very substantive.

This book was on the recommended reading list for a tour later this year of Moscow and St. Petersburg. It is an excellent summary of the lives of the last tsar and his family, made especially interesting with the photographs. I'm not sure it would replace a more detailed biography, but it was perfect for my purposes -- very well-written, very interesting, with wonderful photos.

If you are curious about what the last years of the Romanov family, this book is loaded with great photos and fairly compelling text history. Their tragic story will always trigger many questions of "what if" the Czar had done some things differently. He could have escaped with his mother....

I’m a huge Romanov nerd, I own many books on different members of this incredible family. Great gift for fellow History buffs out there. A must read.

Both the text and the photos are fascinating. Many of the photos came from the royal family's own photo albums and record their everyday lives. The text references diaries, letters etc. I liked the book so much I kept my copy and bought another one as a gift.

This book was a gift. A history and tragedy both. The photos and images are impressive and show the gilded and oppulent life of the Tsar, and his family. The book tells a story of their history, and tragedy. The photos, considering it's the vintage age of photography, are stunning. Great book.

This is a really excellent book. I used to own a copy, which somebody borrowed and then declined to return it!!!! So obviously it must be a very good book for me to have purchased it twice!Really excellent photos of Tsar Nicholas II and his family. The history written is interesting, although necessarily not comprehensive....as the focus is on the pictorial record.Highly recommended.
