Surviving The Abyss
While volume 1 does a great job of setting up the world. Volume 2 of Made In Abyss gives us a glimpse of what dangers lurk within. The creatures that inhabit the Abyss are equal parts memorizing and terrifying. And as a cherry on top the world building continues to be equally fascinating with us getting introduced to the White Whistles. Those whose adventures into the Abyss are things of legend, like Ozen the Immovable. Now Made In Abyss is one of the few manga series I recommend picking up the paper copy of as opposed to digital. The artwork and color pages are of a real high quality. Add to that the information pages that the volume has on monsters and relics it really does feel like a handbook to the Made In Abyss series. The volumes are also larger then your standard manga size in hight and width. So if you're a fan of the series it's also like getting an art book of the series as well in one. I'll see you all with next volume as we dive deeper into the Abyss. -MickManga

Great Story and Art - Buyer Beware: There's some objectionable stuff
Great series, parts of it are so sincere and emotional you can't help but cry.But watch out, the kids in these stories are put into very serious/strange situations and the artist will not spare you from their extensive, graphic world building.Exhibit. A: Inside the back cover of this volume. It's that special kind of lewd art that certain Japanese artists create, the kind that really doesn't fly over in the west. You can probably guess what based on this author's art style and subject matter. Personally, I had to take a thickass sharpie marker to it because damn, I don't want that in my house. That said, I'm glad they reprinted the manga in its entirety. I don't want them censoring stuff I can easily censor myself.Superb stuff, otherwise.

Great, but not as Great as the First Volume.
I got volume 1 for christmas and after I read it I immediately needed to buy the next couple of volumes. The ending of volume 1 left on a pretty big cliffhanger, it made me want to see what happened next. I really liked Volume 2, but It wasn’t as good as the first. There are some really good scenes though. If you’ve read volume 1, I would definitely recommend reading more of the series.

Its good, Really good.
A great, captivating story. If you are already this far in, might as well keep going. each manga up to the third makes up about 4ish episodes of the anime, up to the third book as of writing. I read the manga then watched the anime. Its basically word for word in most parts.. but the music, extra scenery, and battles in motion add a great depth that makes it worth experiencing both.

A good start to the journey
Honestly, why are you reading this review? It's the second volume. Either you read the first volume and you want to continue the story, or you haven't read the first volume yet. In either case just buy every volume of this series then read it.

As beautifully drawn as the first volume, and twice as interesting
Where the first volume spent its length setting things up, the second sees protagonists Reg and Riko start out on their adventure proper. We see more conflict, more action, and much more of the titular Abyss.Made in Abyss is a masterful blend of cute shenanigans and dark, unsettling concepts, and this volume offers the first sampling of the latter. It only escalates from here. A few risque panels this time too; your mileage may vary as to whether the series' paradoxically innocent tone makes those more or less jarring.
