No end to the uses to be made of this book
And you thought you knew how to play Boggle. This book is a great addition to the basic Boggle rules. This would be good for caregivers to help patients "keep busy," for someone with time on their hands, for grade school children, to take along on travels, (I would NEVER though consider taking it on a honeymoon.) :)A good book to take along to a dentist/doctor's appointment to read while waiting. I am amazed at the number of people who sit in said offices and stare into space. Take a book and learn something while you wait.

Maybe Now I Can Finally Beat My Wife In A Game Of Boggle...
** NOTE: I was given a free copy of this ebook in exchange for an honest review. **I've been playing Boggle with my wife since we first started dating and she's been stomping me for 21 years. I ca't understand it either. Its not that she's not smart - she has an RN degree and now homeschools our children - but I have two degrees, a much larger vocabulary, and routinely beat her in a wide range of games. I don't need to win every time, but she so routinely beats me by over 50 pts (we play to 100). I just don't know what I'm doing wrong. However, we keep playing because I think that maybe "THIS TIME" will be the one I finally turn the corner. Hasn't happened yet though and she just laughs at me as I make her play "just one more game". I think she enjoys making sure that I understand that I'm not "all that and a bag of chips" as I so obviously think I am...I was therefore eager to review Zack Guido's book "How To Get Better At Boggle - A Strategy Guide" because I am CLEARLY doing something wrong. Inside are great gameplay instructions including overall game play tips, alternative rules, dice probability charts (which made this engineer's heart skip a beat!), various strategies and tactics, and finally long sections of word block lists, words that start with "Q", and a very valuable list of "Senorita Notaries" (or the words that are built through the most common letter combos of S, N, R, T, and E, O, A, I). Truth be told, I had no idea a book like this existed. You'd think that as wrapped around the axle as I clearly am about my "Boggle Inadequacies" that I would be out there trying to better myself, but I was always hoping that through the sheer number of games, I'd improve. Yea - pretty funny, huh?Overall, I thought this book was perfect for me and any other player out there - both veteran and rookie Boggle players - as the tips and word rules are perfect for any skill level. I think I appreciated the most the easy-to-remember rules of thumb about letter chains, words that can easily be pluralized, word families and the like. I'm not sure how often when I write down the word "STOPS" that I also write down "TOP, STOP, POT, POTS, TOSS, etc, etc". I've always played to try to get as many "different words" as possible. Maybe I figured out part of my problem. So with this baby in my hip pocket - and with a few hours of chart memorization - I just might be able to hit 75 points by the time my wife wins the game. At least one can always hope...For fans of this book who are also interested puzzle books, I would suggest other books in Mr. Guido's suite including What Am I? - A Collection Of Traditional Word Riddles (VOL 2) , A Big Book Of Little Word Puzzles: 550+ Word Puzzles , or Little Word Puzzles To Entertain & Train Your Brain! - Single Letter Switches .

Improve your Boggle skills
When I was offered "How to Get Better at Boggle" as a gift in exchange for writing an honest review, I leapt at the chance. Having played Boggle with my mom when I was growing up and now, for the past 33 years, having played it with my wife, kids, and other family members (we took it along on our honeymoon and played it on the beach at Naples, FL), I wanted to find ways of improving my game. Not that I was bad. I've spent my life with games and words, as both a philosophy professor and a writer. But, quite frankly, I don't always win, and this puts me in a funk, since I'm highly competitive. Now, Boggle isn't a complicated game. The rules are simple. And it's easy to play. (For those who are unfamiliar with the rules of Boggle and related games––such as Ruzzle and Scramble with Friends––Zach Guido, the author, includes a summary of the rules for these games as well.) However, as Guido points out, there are still strategies involved, and in Part II of the book he notes these (for example, being able to recognize reversible words, plural forms, word chains, and the like.) In Part I he provides helpful Letter Probability Charts. Both Parts I and II are quite useful in helping you improve your ability to write down words in the three-minute limit allotted for each round of Boggle.Perhaps the most valuable part of the book, however, is Part III. This part contains numerous word lists, such as lists of words that contain prefixes and suffixes, as well as reversible words. This is a treasure trove of information, and, although I didn't do a count, there are definitely thousands of words. (Although it is unlikely that the reader is going to memorize all these words, having them in a handy form such as one finds in the book and reviewing them will definitely produce a greater awareness of the plethora of words lurking on the Boggle board.)I highly recommend this book for anyone hoping to become a better Boggle player.

Good book for this game
A book on the game of Boggle should not be too complicated and fortunately this fits the bill. The reader will learn the object of the game, some strategy tips and a LOT of words that will help the player. I enjoyed reading about the game but felt too much of the book was simply word lists.I wish to thank the author for provding a copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
