Big John's Pickled Sausage - Gallon

The sausages are the same thickness as kielbasa or any other smoked sausage. Each piece is roughly 3.5" long. The pickling doesn't go all the way through the sausages, so the middle still looks like regular sausage with a pinkish/red halo the deepens in color as you get closer to the casing. Not exactly "hot" but slightly tangy. The texture was very soft and too mushy for my liking.

Mushy, horrible flavor.I ordered these for my 88-year-old father who wanted ones like used to be in the bar. I guess that does not exist. We each had one and did not even finish it. They should be hard and taste pickled. Not mushy and like chemicals. I’m not even sure we can get these away.

I've been eating hot sausages since I was in my mother’s womb, and I absolutely love them. This jar I received, when I peel the aluminum off the top it felt greedy. Then I decided to sample one and it was mushy and it immediately gave me the runs, I’m not happy with my jar. Usually they are firm, have a crunch, or a snap I didn’t have that I’m not happy.

I've enjoyed this brand of pickled sausages for most of my life. I ordered some from a different seller a few months back and they were fantastic! However, this order was a slimy, disgusting mess. I took one bite and knew that these were old. They were covered in slime and extremely mushy. I want my money back or a replacement. I'm wary of this seller now though. Someone has to make this right. Freshness and quality are paramount when selling food products. I could have gotten sick!

So if you buy them in the store they are usually firm but these aren't, they are softer, but I found a way to make them taste better, if you take a tissue and dry out the sausage it taste better and not soggy, overall they taste good, got what was advertised, just been marinated in the juice for a little to long to the reason why they are soft

I read the other reviews and i took a chance on these. Only bad thing i can say is the packaging was just ok. Other than that the casing had the snap i was joping for like the old penrose sausages. The flavor is so very close to those. There was no leakage and there was a safety sesl in place and it was sealed. The texture of the meat was as expected. The very first bite took me straight back to Saturday,s with my dad when we went to the city open air market in kansas city.best served on a napkin with a couple of saltines. They are great. Just wish they were a bit cheaper to buy

I think the heat is messing up the sausages bad. Some came extremely mushy and the juice was clouded with impurities from the meat. The seal wasn’t even closed right and some sausages look like they could’ve been bitten. Not sure if that’s the seller’s fault or shipping in heat but, the flavor is pretty good in the good sausages. Overpriced for these shipping conditions…

These are exactly like pickled sausages I liked as a kid. Not sure about the negative reviews I've read. Seems like they are talking about another brand. They are not soft, mushy, or greasy. These look, taste just like I remember. I've tried just about every other pickled sausage Amazon sells and IMO these are by far the best. The thing I wish were different is if they were thinner like the ones I remember. Their thickness is a little too much. Other than that these are just like the ones I got at 7-11s, delis, and bowling alleys.
