Bought this a few days ago with free delivery, and it was delivered the next day! The product comes in a small box, wrapped for protection, with a small manual booklet. The USB cable is tucked neatly underneath. I plugged the cable into the side of my Apple laptop and it turns on instantly. One thing to note is that the laptop only recognises the external drive if you have put either a CD or DVD into it (it should then pop up automatically on your home screen). After a few days of using, I can safely say this product is simple and easy to use, with no need to look at the manual. Definitely good value for money and a neat device to take around wherever you need to.

I received this product today (05/10/2020) and I had tested it within 20 minutes of receiving it. It reads my current and older (loaded with photos and home-videos)DVD-Rs and DVD-RWs beautifully and quickly, both DVD formats containing 100's of personal digital photographs and home videos, and also this product was equally responsive with my other older storage-CDs. It was all fine. I also connected this new external drive via BOTH a USB 2.0 4-way hub and then a USB 3.0 4-way hub and this product ran very well on both, but responded quicker of course on the USB 3.0 hub (the USB 3.0 laptop port and 3.0 hub having a much faster transfer rate of course) but still a perfectly reasonable speed on the older USB 2.0 laptop port and 2.0 hub. Next, I burnt three folders of my more recent multiple digital-photos from my laptop hard-disk to a standard DVD-R disk using this new External DVD CD Drive, and these photo-folders transferred to the blank disk at a very speedy rate. I was very impressed indeed. Next, I loaded a contemporary music disk onto this new external DVD drive and waited a few seconds and the music disk played extremely well via both Microsoft Media Player and VLC Media Player. Yet again, no problems here whatsoever. Regarding robustness and rigidity, I can only say what I closely observed. I found this external drive to be pretty robust, with a hard casing and a stable inner pop-out mechanism for loading my DVDs and CDs onto it. Some reviewers have mentioned that they found this product a little flimsy, but I would respectfully simply compare this product to a standard laptop or desktop PC DVD-drive where, in my many years of simple day-to-day experience, those drives are more flimsy, over-flexible when they pop out of their respective computer casings, whereas I found this product to be really quite robust relatively-speaking, with a fairly rigid casing and relatively robust sliding in/out mechanism. Having a USB 3.0 and a type-C connector (you can use either/or of these connectors) is a great plus for me, and the way the loose cable can be put back into the cable-recess under the unit for transporting the unit in my laptop bag is a neat and useful addition. Therefore, overall I find this unit to be excellent, very good value indeed for the inexpensive cost, relatively robust and rigid design, and it definitely operates very well indeed in all of the basic functions that a DVD drive was intended to do (and let's not be too techy or geeky here), i.e simply to burn content, record, and play back. For me it's a no-brainer. Highly recommended by me. Kindest regards.

Just what I needed to transfer my CD collection to my iMac. Easy to install and use with good transfer time. Only slight negative is that it’s a wee bit noisier than I was expecting but in truth that’s really not a great problem. Glad I bought it for the task I had in mind.

The product is as per the pictures, there is already a lot of detailed information from other reviews so I will just say that is good product, plugged in to Surface Pro, no issues, easy to use and CD played smoothly and without any issues. As long this will have a decent lifespan this is extremely good value for money! I would recommend it.

The item appears to be well made and sturdy. When playing CDs, it's `plug and play`- very easy. However, the DVD player is problematic. When installed, the computer produces a series of DVD apps, it's hit and miss which apps are compatible with player. Some apps are free, some you have to pay for. Any Player (so far) works fine, VLC doesn't for example.

A superb piece of kit and at a nice price. It arrived, I plugged it into my iMac, switched the iMac on let every thing load and the CD player worked straight away with no problems. Burning to disc is very easy, no additional driver or software needed. I would also like to thank the seller for contacting me, to see if there was any problems.

This unit just failed to work. Oh wait, the tray button worked and the tray popped out and pushed back in quite impressively. The status light didn't work. The device did show up as a USB connected device but beyond that there was nothing. I used this first on my HP laptop and then tried it on a brand new Asus laptop I had just purchased and it was the same result. Nothing. I was surprised at the poor quality of the build as well. The blue decorative plastic band around the middle of the unit was detached from the body at two locations and the tray didn't seem to be centrally seated in the unit. OK, sometimes things don't work due an unforeseen flaw in the manufacturing process but surely quality control should weed these rogues out. At the higher end of pricing (but still cheap) for these devices, I just don't think this should be up there. My advice would be don't buy this model just lay your outlay elsewhere.

My parents had a bunch of old childhood DVDs lying around that have been gathering dust for years as we no longer have a working DVD player. It was long overdue to convert them and I bought this item to do just that. Combined with my Mac, it was simple to use this external DVD drive to convert DVDs to digital quickly, and the fact it had a USB-C cable meant I didn't have to use any adapters either. Now I can lend this product to friends and family who also need to convert their DVDs, so it's definitely something worth having!

Il fait tout comme indiqué et en plus il sait lire et donc permet de ripper les CD de musique, contrairement à beaucoup de modèles similaires bas de gamme qui se plantent 9 fois sur 10 pour ces CDs. Léger et comme tous les produits similaires un mécanisme de tiroir à ressort (basique quoi !): on verra comment ça tient.

Pour palier à un manque sur pc Acer qui ne propose plus de lecteur cd, qui n’a pas assez de port USB, et pas de lecteur carte sd et micro sd, vite reconnu, rempli bien toutes les fonctions, seule inquiétude, le cable qui se range sous l’appareil et que l’on déploie pour la mise en œuvre, qu’elle résistance dans le temps à ces manipulations ?, un peu bruyant mais c’est le lot de tous les appareils dvd externes

Facile à utiliser. Je l’ai acheté en complément pour mon 2 eme pc ,fonctionne très bien compact il passe partout je l ai aussi mis sur ma tv du salon parfait. je recommande.

Tout fonctionne parfaitement. Le câble n'est pas pratique à 100% car très court et le hub usb présent dessus n'est donc pas facilement accessible. Fait parfaitement le job en tous les cas, même en gravure DVD

N'ayant pas de lecteur CD sur mon PC, j'ai commandé ce lecteur / graveur de CD/DVD et c'est juste le top ! Lis et grave correctement les DVD, il ne tient pas de place avec son câble intégré.
