Toy Story Trilogy [Blu-ray 3D]

Did Andy Know Sid?
I got this. It arrived well with the first 3 Toy Story movies. There are 4 Toy Story movies, and there have also been spin off Toy Story movies. For example, around Halloween there's a Halloween Toy Story movie, Toy Story Of Terror. There's also a Buzz Lightyear Of Star Command. But, it seems that the 4 Toy Story movies that got released in the cinemas, are the main Toy Story movies. To talk more about the movie than the order, I've watched the First one a few times recently. I'll tell you, even if you're an adult, Toy Story will probably entertain you. I can't believe how long it's been since this movie came out, and since the '90s. In my opinion, I'd consider the first Toy Story was the best. The computer animation is still impressive today, and it was definitely a turning point in entertainment, animation for how many animated movies have come out since then. The toys from the movie seem iconic and recognizable since the first movie, and the story with these characters has been able to continue. With the Blu Ray menu, you can get Commentary while watching, Deleted Scenes, Making Of. Get a little more background information from Toy Story. Now, to talk about the movie. I feel that Toy Story, is the best of the films story written, even though it won't include characters we get to know in other Toy Story movies. Jessie wasn't in this adventure with Woody. Still, a great story. I mean I feel that this Toy Story gives us a feel of a suburban neighborhood home/community. I guess they all do, but Andy's neighborhood. Andy and his Mom are about to move. Right next door the neighbor is Sid. He is one of the reasons I feel like Toy Story was better written, a character like Sid. He wasn't all evil, he just liked blowing up toys dissembling them, torturing toys, but not realizing they were alive. He's a character we'd probably want to see return and get a little more of a backstory of. He only had brief appearances in Toy Story 3 as a garbageman. This movie also has scenes at Pizza Planet. I've always thought, that looked like a cool restaurant to eat at. While Pizza Planet is mentioned in other Pixar Films, I'm pretty sure this is the only one where they actually go to a Pizza Planet. I liked also seeing that gas station Dinoco. Now, to ask my question, Did Andy Know Sid? I mean they were next door neighbors just a fence apart. Andy's bedroom window was even parallel to Sid's bedroom window. The toys knew who he was, and could hear and see him in his backyard. Sid even happened to be at Pizza Planet when Andy was there. One neighbor loves toys, the other tortures toys. Did the Davis Family know the Phillips Family? It's just a fictional movie, even though it will come to life while watching, but this information wasn't written into the script. But, from a logical perspective, they most likely knew each other, but weren't really friends. Andy would probably have made a better friend with Sid's sister Hannah. This might sound random, but I also like how the movie gave an idea of going through the walls, vents of the house showing what the inside, parts of a house you don't see look like, along with a toy going to the front door through a hole where the lightbulb was. Also, with the chase at the end, giving you a feel of being in a neighborhood like that, and surprisingly during that scene and all these other Toy Story scenes, people don't seem to notice the toys are alive, opening the back of a truck, blasting off with The Big One. How did practically nobody see this? A good movie, and I've heard other questions. Like for one, who is Andy's Father? A well-written movie, but they left out a couple of simple things plot wise that could have been included, and people who have seen the movie wonder about? I also heard a couple of theories like Emily, from Toy Story 2 was possibly Andy's Mom. We call her Mrs. Davis/Andy's Mom without a first name. Thanks for reading.

At Last! All three films on one box
It took a lot of patience on my part but here we are. I waited for these films to come in one package. Not buying the DVD versions. Waited when the third film came out in theaters and Disney released the previous two on Blu-Ray in separate packs. Waited, despite the begging from my wife and daughter to get the films already. But I held out... And now THEY ARE MINE! (Insert evil laughter here.)So is it everything I had hoped for? Well, I have to say yes. Here is my take on it.The set comes in a beautiful box that is as colorful as the films themselves. Open it reveals a mini version of Andy's toy box and opening that reveals the discs, held in place by pre-formed foam. The toy box itself is adorable and I don't mind the lack of jewel cases. The only problem is that the slots where the discs slid into are delicate and continuous use will probably wear them out. Plus its very easy to confuse the slots and place the discs in the wrong slot. Aside from that, the presentation looks awesome in my opinion. Some better execution would have made it better. The box now sits proudly at the top of my movie collection. The collection has 10 discs. A BD version of the films, a DVD version and a Digital Copy version, which is pretty much par for the course for a Disney release. The DVD versions will of course have permanent play on our mini-van. The tenth disc is the Bonus Features of the stand alone release of the third film. Many have cried foul over this fact as many were hoping the tenth disc was going to be unique for this release but alas, it was not to be. For me, there are two possible explanations: 1) Disney simply tried to homogenize the release. the other two films have their respective previous special features. The third film is the only one of the three released in the Blu-Ray era so to be faithful, they threw that in. 2) In an effort two make us double dip, they held out any new extra content for a future inevitable anniversary edition of this collection. The reaction to this is completely understandable I think, considering just how good the extras on Pixar films have been but here is the reason it doesn't bother me one bit:The transfers to BD of all three films is SO good, I forget everything else.As it turns out, my patience was rewarded twice. In my stubbornness to wait out this collection I found myself asking my brother to lend me his DVD versions of Toy Story 1 & 2 1 week before this box came out hoping to calm my daughter's desperation as she simply loves these films. This gave me the opportunity to make a side by side comparison and I have to tell you. These transfers are impressive. Most impressive. The BD editions simply blow any previous releases out of the water. Those familiar with Pixar Blu-Rays will find no surprises in that last comment but since Toy Story is the first (and therefore oldest) film n the Pixar canon, I wondered how it would turn out but I should not have worried. Watching these films on Blu makes watching the DVD versions look like trying to watch a movie screen through a screen door. You have not watched these films until you watch them on Blu-Ray. Even if you saw them in theaters. They are that good. So, is it worth it? For me, absolutely. Since I don't own a previous version of any of the films included here, this collection is downright perfect. However, owners of previous editions who might be looking for more can be(and have been) dissapointed. So despite the little flaws in the packaging I give it a solid 4 stars. The digital transfers alone are worth the price of admission and besides, buying all three films separately costs pretty much the same anyway. Highly recommended.

Don't try to be clever
I ordered The Complete Toy Story Collection where all 3 films were contained in just 1 plastic box. The total cost included Β£7.11 import fees, fair enough. Instead what I received was a bog standard card sleeve containing each film in separate plastic cases. The specification looks entirely British. I have been hood winked into paying extra for something that anybody could have bought from poor old HMV. Amazon are going to this order straight back!

A fantastic trilogy of my favourite animated film franchise
I've wanted to purchase this trilogy since the third film was released but I didn't purchase this until about two months ago because the price had come down to just over Β£12.The first film has impressive animation for 1995 and it was a childhood favourite. The second film is an improvement over the first with new characters such as Jessie, Bullseye and Stinky Pete and it has some hilarious scenes. The third film is my favourite and is the most bittersweet of them all with a mixture of funny, sad and dark moments. I also love 'Day and Night,' the short film that preceded this one in the cinema and it's a lively little extra on the DVD.All in all this is the best trilogy of Disney DVDs I've ever bought and they were well worth the money. 5/5.

Exceptional trilogy
I`m 35 and normally watch horror and indie releases. I hadn`t even watched Toy Story 1, or 2, or 3 until a week ago. But now that I have, I can comfortably say that in terms of pure and simple enjoyment, I haven`t enjoyed a series of films this much before...and I`ve watched thousands of films. I would say that the films actually improve (from a very high starting point) over the series, starting with parochial neighbour issues in 1, to the enemy that is Al of the Toy Barn in 2, and culminating in the deeply moving (really!) scene in 3 as the toys look like they are about to "die" - but make it back to say goodbye to Andy, and meet their new owner. Really wonderful film-making.

Superb!
What can I say - it's all 3 Toy Story films in one box!I bought the boxset for my daughter who is 2 and totally obsessed with Toy Story, consequently we have watched it daily since it arrived on our doorstep and despite that, I still love it! The box set is very well presented and the discs have many extras and are dubbed into several languages which is great as my daughter is bilingual. The films themselves are fantastic and I hope they bag the Oscar this year. All in all it's a lovely set and one that I'm sure will be used a thousand times more in the future!
