The Truth About YNP based off of archeological evidence.
This book sheds light on prehistoric tribes going back 11,000 years! It is now my favorite book and brings truth by offering evidence about how prehistoric and historic indigenous tribes lived in YNP until hey were chased out by the US Calvary. Recommended read for junior high history or high school history!

History Of Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming
I have visited Yellowstone National Park, but I have learned so much from this book with a lot of pictures. Native Americans were in the area back to 11,000 years, they had the spirit of survival and adventure that represent the very best of humanity. The Crow, Shoshone, Blackfeet, Nez Perce mostly live in that area or near that area, but back then so many other tribes must have travel and camp there while traveling to other areas in America. So much history to this beautiful land. Now as a park the wildlife/nature has a beautiful place call home and for them to enjoy it. Great book!

Follow up to Smithsonian article
I read an article in a recent Smithsonian magazine about the history of Native Americans in Yellowstone National Park and of the archaeological treasure trove of discoveries found there. Much of the article quoted Douglas MacDonald, an anthropology professor at the U of Montana. I found it fascinating so wanted to know more and ordered this book. It did not disappoint, now knowing so much more I’d love to go back to Yellowstone. If only I had had this knowledge when there my visit would have meant so much more.

Great gift for an adventurer and historian.
The information from the view of indigenous people was so well written and informative including ancient history passed through descendants and backed up by archeological digs. Yellowstone is an amazing National Park and this book provides even more documented and verified information regarding its importance to all of the ancient peoples throughout the United States as well as the current visitors and afficianados of our national park treasuries. This book was gifted to a friend with fantastic success!

Excellent well written must read book!
I loved this informative book! It was very easy and enjoyable to read with non biased accurate history and narrative directives that are believable. I love Yellowstone Park and love Native American history. MacDonald did an excellent job with his writing his descriptive analysis of the sites and explaining how or why the sites are where they are. This book is a sure bet for the arm chair archeologist or anyone with interest in history of Yellowstone Park . Don’t misunderstand me this is not a dumbed down book. I loved it and learned a lot about the native cultures
