Q: Does it keep insects out?

It’s for rain only ...it can keep an insect out. It does have elastic to make a snug fit around the car seat.

Q: Does it fit a Safety 1st car seat ?

Thank you for you question! Unfortunately we have not tested the rain cover on a Safety 1 car seat. It fits most car seats but may not have the custom fit as pictured with the Chicco Keyfit.

Q: Is this advisable to use during summer? Will the baby be hot if use during summer?

I live in the hot Florida weather and I think it would be ok to use in the summer but only in moderation when it is actually raining/windy. I was able to keep it on the carrier and fold it back and tuck in the handle when we were in the car and/or outside and it was not raining. There are breathing holes but only on the sides and you want to be careful not to leave it on in the direct heat for a long time. It could get too hot that way. That’s only my suggestion though. We love our Sasha rain and wind cover.
