Anyone know if PFOA/PTFE-free nonstick or is it Teflon? (PTFE is Teflon; PFOA is chemical in Teflon that may be dangerous in cookware.)

It is Teflon, and I try to buy all ceramic products, unfortunately I have not come across a ceramic waffle iron yet. It is a shame they are still using Teflon.

The knob has 6 settings but moves all the way around, what is the purpose of the non-numbered settings? or is my product broken?

I just bought one used and it had the same issue as yours. Dial just kept spinning. I removed the screw in the rear of the unit that secures the chrome lid and found the problem. The dial comes out easily on its own so I had to line it up again and reinsert it. I also had to press down hard on the dial after putting the chrome lid back on so that it doesn’t slip off again. Problem solved. Works perfectly now. Fyi, setting #6 is super hot!

can i make pizzelles in this? has anyone tried it?

No. Pizzelles are very very thin. This makes a pretty thin waffle but is still 5 times thicker than a pizzelle.
