Useful Pet Food Dish Stand
We had a small metal stand that held our cats' food and water dishes. It kept the dishes up off the ground, which is supposed to be healthier for digestion, and reduces the chances of ants getting into the food and water. After about three years, I noticed that the stand was rusting on the water dish side, to the point where large flakes of metal were falling off. So, I decided it was time to get a new set of dishes. Most of the ones I looked at were rather large, and rather expensive. Then I found this. It's just the stand. The dishes are not included, which is fine with me, since there's nothing wrong with our cats' food and water bowls. It comes in several sizes, so I had to measure the diameter of the dishes. They were smaller than I expected, so I had to order the smallest size available.Imagine my surprise when I pulled out the new stand and realized it was identical to the old one! Not merely similar, but identical in every respect. The bowls fit perfectly into the holes, so they're suspended above the ground. The stand is made of a sturdy black metal, somewhat plain, more functional than decorative, but I really didn't want anything super fancy. My one complaint is that it doesn't come with the little rubber bumpers that the old one had, which protected the ceramic dishes from hitting the metal. I had to pull the bumpers off the old one before I threw it away.My cats seem to like the food dish stand, so I'll give it four stars and recommended to anyone with cats or very small dogs. Just keep an eye on the side you keep the water bowl on, because it may rust, eventually.

So Disappointed...
I have MANY, MANY cats, and after lots of years of filling four 1-quart bowls with dry food twice a day, I decided to get smart and buy two of these stands to hold four 2-quart bowls and fill them just once a day. I have always made my own bowl-holders so that my cats can eat from a comfortable height. I've always used kitchen cabinet shelf organizers (between 4.5" and 6.5" high) and cut them so that the bowls fit in them nicely and look nice. I do the same thing for the 3-quart water bowls I have for the cats. However, the shelf organizers are now being made of much more flimsy wire, and I know that since I want to use bigger bowls in them (thus more weight), they may not hold up as well. So, after much shopping, I thought these Signature Housewares Dual Pet Bowl Stands were EXACTLY what I wanted. It was extremely hard to find a stand that held the larger 2-quart bowls yet had a stand height below 7 inches, and I was SO excited when they arrived. Each stand is very sturdy, somewhat attractive, and has the perfect dimensions (18"L x 8"W x 5.5"H) for my cats to eat from. Unfortunately, I had to send both stands back to Amazon. If the manufacturer (made in China, for those who care to know) had paid attention to detail, then this stand would have been primo in my opinion. But every bowl I tried in both stands rocked back and forth too much, and would have scared the cats and driven me crazy with the constant sound of the bowls rocking and scraping against the stand. I had ordered 4 bowls from Amazon (2-Quart Standard Stainless Steel Dish by Loving Pets, which I feel I shouldn't try to return since there is nothing wrong with the bowls) to use in these stands. But every one of those bowls rocked, so I decided to try a different brand of bowls. So I took the stands with me to every local pet store, super center, department store, hardware store, and anywhere else that I thought might sell pet bowls. I tried every bowl (stainless steel and ceramic alike - no plastic for my babies) that was the correct size for these stands, and I even enlisted the help of the store associate or manager in each store. Not one bowl fit correctly. After looking over the stands more carefully, I saw the problem - in the manufacturing of the stands themselves. In broad terms, each stand is somewhat of a wrought-iron rectangle, with two wrought-iron circles welded on top of the rectangle. These circles hold each bowl in place. However, the circles were welded on so that one part of each circle was on the outside of the rectangle, and the other part of the circle was on the inside of the rectangle, thus prohibiting the bowls from dropping in evenly. It's kind of hard to explain, but since the diameter of the metal making up the rectangle part and the diameter of the metal making up the circle part are the same, if the manufacturer had welded the circle on evenly or flush with the rectangle, no bowl would rock in it. Or even if the circle part was mounted slightly inside the rectangle part, there would not be a problem.Due to the high ratings of this product, there have obviously been some good stands made, but I was not fortunate enough to get them. Yes, I know there are some lemons made in just about every product imaginable, but I cannot give a high rating to something just because it has the potential to be a good product or just because others received a better quality product than I did.

Great stand with room for slight improvement
This is my third duel pet bowl stand. I bought the third one when we adopted a third cat. They work out well for us. We feed our cats in Corelle glass bowls - no ceramic or stainless steel for us. There is a very small dish that comes in white that doesn't quite fit in the space of this stand which is why I only gave it 4 stars. We purchased stainless steel bowls which do fit the space and just put the glass bowl on top of the stainless steel bowl on the stand and problem is solved. Later I purchased the next size up of white round Corelle bowl and discovered that one fits this space perfectly. It's the bowl that is one size down from a what I would call a cereal bowl. I would call it more of a fruit dish. Anyway, those bowls work perfectly. Another reason I only gave it 4 stars is because I wish this stand was about an inch or so higher. We have senior kitties and I believe by raising up their food bowls it aids in their digestion. With a little higher bowl, their necks would not have to bend down as much. If we ever adopt more cats, I will purchase more of these stands as they are sturdy enough and for the most part and work well in for our situation.

Poor kitty hated having to jump up on a cart ...
I recently moved to a new apartment building and I've never lived on the first floor of a building before, but I soon discovered that ants can be a big problem! I put the food dishes on a cart temporarily until I could figure out what to do! Poor kitty hated having to jump up on a cart to eat his food!I finally stumbled upon this and realized it was the perfect solution. I had bowls that were 5" and according to the product description, they should have fit into the holes. They sort-of fit. They sit on the top of the holes, instead of fitting inside of them, but as long as my cat doesn't decide to knock his bowls over there shouldn't be a problem with that. However, the product description should reflect that the bowls will sit on top and not fit within. The stand is doing exactly what it's supposed to do. It elevates the food and water off the floor enough that the ants cannot get to it, but the cat can sit comfortably to eat. Since I've elevated the food and started to take care of the ant problem, I haven't seen very many coming through my apartment at all. Since the cat likes the stand, I'll give it the Leonardo DaVinCat stamp of approval!
