Use large channel locks to make these connect to 12g stranded wire
I couldn’t get these to penetrate through the insulation of a 12G (14 AWG) manualky or with small pliers. The wire penetrating part is not sharp enough to cut through 1 mm thick insulation surrounding a 12G (14AWG) 2 mm thick multi-strand wire. The wire accepting gap is only 1 mm wide and 4 mm deep. I think this means that this won't work on a solid core 12G (14AWG wire). It can still be used on a multi-strand 12G (14 AWG) wire, but I'm finding I have to cut a 1 mm wide complete ring of insulation from around the bus wire using an Xacto knife and then gently work the 12G (14AWG) wire into the wire notch without slicing the strands. Leaving any insulation around the wire makes it difficult to get the wire flattened and slipped into the notch and the 12G wire deforms breaking strands. Looks like soldering may be necessary to lock it in place so it doesn't eventually rotate and slice the bus wire I'm connecting to. Outer covering is a little fragile as I was locking cover trying to use a screw driver to push partially stripped wire through the notch and a couple broke at the spade hinge when simply starting to close the tap.I finally decided to use a long handle large channel lock plier and tgat did the trick. Lots of leverage with the long handles make it easier to make the connection without having to precut the insulation. I just carefully position the connector over my bus wire and get the pieces together and aligned hokding it together with one hand. Carefullt position the ge channel locks with my other hand and gently squeeze with my other hand until the pieces lock. Tested with a continuity meter and every single one I put together works without a problem. Much happier now that figured out how to use these.

3M Made in USA
Although the Amazon page lists these T-taps as made in China, my package stated they were 3M made in USA. They worked well, no problems crimping onto a fine wire. Place the wire in the slot, fold over the cover, and squeeze with pliers. Done. The trick is to get the right size T-tap for the wire you intend to clamp onto, so I bought a bag of each of the red, blue, and yellow. The T-tap allows you to connect in tighter spots than regular side-by-side splices, so although this is the first time I've used these, I like them a lot better. But as someone pointed out, these T-taps DO require the use of a spade connector, so be warned that those are needed. But the advantage of the T-tap is that you can splice different wire size easily by using the proper connector on each wire. In my case I had a fuse holder that had a 12AWG wire coming out of it downstream of the fuse that needed to be spliced into a 22 AWG wire. So a yellow 12 AWG T-tap was used on the fuse wire and I could use a red 22 AWG spade lug for the other wire. A standard single-size splice would not have worked in that situation.

Tied together
I have to say this makes my life much easier, for years I have usedwire connectors that cut into the existing wire, and not knowing if it made the connectionwith this connector you know it is a good fit with the two male and female connectors, a good tight fitand very kleen. i can't say enough about this connector buy it if you want a good connector.that does the job i give it an A+

tap vs solder
No tap connection is as good as a solder joint but for a quick tap, a temporary tap, or even a test tap these are perfect. Never had one fail.

These do not work on number 10 nor number 12 gauge wire
These claim to be a t-tap for number 12 and number 10 gauge wire I'm returning the product today because not even a single number 12 Gauge wire fits. Never the less 2 # 12's to make a t tap. And that's supposed to be the smaller gauge wire that these taps can work with. I'm going to go to my local supply house to grab the regular 3M Scotch locks that I use. I tried to save money but now they're going to charge me a restocking fee also even though the product doesn't work.
