Quilting Support Gloves for Free-Motion Sewing, by Quilter’s Touch

More helpful than I ever imagined!
Basics: Lightweight gloves that do exactly what they are supposed to - amazingly well. Fit my hands perfectly. I have long fingers and gloves very often don't fit quite right, but these were perfect - just enough stretch and give to fit just like they're supposed to. As lightweight as they are, they are also well constructed and should last a long time. Incredibly comfortable - within minutes I didn't even notice that they were still on my hands.Great value! I have been piecing quilts for several years now, and I have tried my hand at free-motion quilting a few times. I've never been too excited about FMQ - piecing and designing is my passion. I had seen "professional" quilters using these gloves, and I had a gift card, so I thought I'd take a chance. I can't believe how much difference these make! I spent hours last night doing a basic meander, which I could never get right before. With these gloves, my stitches were smooth and even, fabric moved along consistently with no major effort. Last time I did FMQ for hours, I spent days recuperating from the aching shoulders that went with the extra effort of manipulating my "quilt sandwich" through the machine. With these gloves, my only soreness was from hours of being hunched in one position - gotta remember to get up and stretch more often! But today I have no soreness at all. Oh, and don't be fooled by the "money saving idea" to use standard knit gloves with fabric paint dots to give mimic the sticky texture and better grip the fabric. I tried that a long time ago. They did grip the fabric better, but they were HOT, making my hands sweat, and I had to keep taking them off and on every time I need to do anything with the thread (stop/start, remove loose threads, change bobbins, etc.). With the Machingers gloves, I never had to take them off until I was done for the night - and my hands never got even a little bit warm. I may finally be a convert to doing my own FMQ instead of always having to pay big bucks for someone else to do it for me. I may even use these gloves for applique and other detailed sewing that could use a little help in moving the fabric. I would highly recommend to anyone who does any amount of FMQ - get these gloves!!

Finally, the right size!
I have a previous pr of these from a local store, bought the only size they had, way too big. So I wanted a pair that fit...I purchased the SM/MED size, I take a size 6 ring, and my hands are 7 1/4 inches from the wrist to the tip of the middle finger. These fit snugly and comfortably, and as such work very well. I do know from experience, if you live in a hot climate (humid or arid...) the elastic will have a much shorter life than if you live somewhere without the heat. However, these cost significantly less than the local one as well, so I can see using them for a season or two and needing another pr. while I live in the desert. I would imagine those who live in temperate areas would get several years or more of use before finding the wrist slackening up. Overall, I think they work much better than finger cots or the gel you can apply to make your fingers grip the cloth better.

For those of you who are concerned about size
I have a large hand (7-3/8 from base if thumb/wrist to tip of middle finger) and these fit me perfectly. Snug enough not to get twisted around and loose enough to be comfortable. I'm pleased!

Great fit and grippy!
My hands are about 6-1/4 inches and the small/medium fit perfectly. The finger tips are grippy on both sides so you can reverse them. They are soft everywhere else and seem well made. They are exactly what I was looking for.

Great gloves, fit well, good grip on fabric
The gloves are light weight, fit great, and have a good grip on fabric. They have the right balance of stretch and snugness. I wear a size 7 glove. The medium is the correct size for me. The seller offers a hand sizing chart, and I found it to be quite accurate. The knit had a broken thread over the ring finger of the left hand. I reported it to the seller. They responded to my email in minutes! In this case, resolution needed to take place through Amazon Customer Service. They refunded the total amount. I reordered 2 pair of gloves. I am a director of a charity in which we sew a lot of smaller items. These gloves are going to get a good workout. I'm excited to own them.

Work Great!
I have been sewing for 53 years. Since I started quilting though, I find that these gloves are a vital item in my notions. Quilts tend to get "heavy" & these gloves are really a great help. They fit very snug in the fingers, I can work my pins very easily & the finger length is just as it should be (no bunching or pulling). I have tried different brands but would recommend these gloves over any others to anyone who sews.

Must have if you quilt or sew bigger things.
OMG! Who knew! I ran across these gloves looking for quilting needles and for once was happy Amazon was suggesting purchases. I had no idea! What a difference these gloves made! I actually quilted a full size quilt on my regular sewing machine and these gloves made it possible. I'm sending my mom a pair.

Medium size is bigger than I thought
I bought it because one of my favorite quilter was using it as well as few other ones on YouTube I regularly watch was using it. It’s comfortable to wear but after only a few times using it the wrist part was unraveling..quite disappointing for $10…cheaply sewn. The finger portions were grippy and holds the quilt sandwich well and it’s a night and day using it or not using it. But I’m pretty sure I can use a nice gardening gloves that come in rainbow of colors that I have used it in the past. It’s cheaper than $10, and normally sold in more than a pair. So not too sure I would buy this again. Worth mentioning that the sizing is really off. I have medium hands normally but I would need to order XS next time. I measured my finger length before ordering hoping for a right fit. But these gloves fit really big. I never had to order XS gloves before for any regular leather or gloves for winter. The sizing is quite a bit off. I recall the instructor of a quilt class saying that she also doesn’t know why she had to order XS..I think the sizing can be improved. I’m pretty sure there’re ladies who have much smaller hands than me as I have long fingers but if I can wear XS I’m pretty sure there’re a lot of ladies who find XS even bigger. Hope they fix sizing. Value for money is not great as these are exactly like a light duty gardening gloves. It works well but anyone can use a gardening gloves.
