Great design at a great price! Skip expensive name brand racks.
Skip overly priced Thule racks, and buy this one - it is awesome! I bought it for my wife's Jeep Grand Cherokee, specifically for the split design. My wife is only 5'-3", and going with a single (long) rack that is the entire width of a vehicle, she would never be able to reach across the roof to put (4) sets of skis/snowboard in such a rack. This split design allows her to reach just far enough from the driver side, and then the passenger side to load all the skis/snowboard. Thule use to make a similar product a few years ago, and then stopped. Now they make/sell short racks, so you could achieve the same setup by buying (2) sets, but...... you guessed it, you'd also be paying 3x the amount...... just for the Thule name. The quality of this rack is just as good as Thule, at a fraction of the price. Note: - You can fit up to (3) sets of wide skis on each half. You need to slightly stagger the ski bindings so they aren't directly beside one another, but (3) sets of wide skis fit no problem. - You can fit up to (2) snowboards on each half. The snowboards need to be stacked to fit, one upside down and the other on top facing up. - Capacity combinations: - - (4) snowboards, or... - - (6) sets of skis, or... - - (2) snowboards and (3) sets of skis Overall: great design, great quality for a great value. One con: the rack does create a slight whistling sound at around 30-35mph, at least on our vehicle setup. It's non-existent at speeds lower or higher, and can't be heard at all with the radio on at normal listening level.

Work Great, Easy to Install, Good Value for the Price
So far so good. Great racks for the price. Look great and easy to install and use. Like how you can spread them out easily to access form either side of vehicle. Also seem very durable, although have only used for 2 trips so far.

Very secure and easy to use
The install was not super easy as the instructions were a bit vague. Once I figured it out the second unit went up in a snap. I loaded 1 board and 4 pairs of skis with room to spare. Nothing moved an inch during my 3 hour each way trip. Wind noise was minimal. The unit opens, closes and locks very easily. Seems to be of high quality design and materials.

Its a rack
Unit came packaged super well. Instructions were decent but we still struggled a bit to figure out how to install it, could be just us though. But gray adjustment wheel was not intuitive. I would recommend watching a youtube video on how to install it, and installation will make so much more sense. Its almost a no tool instillation, once the unit is fitted to your car , you can take it off or install back on - and will take take almost no time. BUT if you do not lock - its also easy for someone to remove it for you. Make sure to lock both sides. First impression: looks sturdy and nice. What i like about it: 1. capacity - so no more skies inside the car :) 2. fairly easy to operate both locking mechanism and put on / take off the car 3. Looks pretty good 4. Lock / unlock decently marked though a bit on a small side. I did not like: 1. always have to keep it locked. otherwise its easy to remove it 2. the rubber inserts - were all scratched up - looked as it been used (not a deal breaker but was surprised that a brand new unit would look like it) Neutral - a sticker with warning is included and you should attach it that tells you to lock your rack but its in a place where you normally would not see it : ( My wish list - a better marking for locked / unlocked positions. maybe in yellow or something to remind you.

Much nicer than I expected - grip well and a breeze to take on/off
Update February 2020: Still working great although I did find one issue - the arms only go up about 45 degrees, so there's not enough room to grab a pair of skis from behind another pair. So if I drop off a buddy and his skis are on the inside, I have to pull the 1 or 2 other pairs out first. Also I moved the rack to my new Forester and found that it has to mount on the plastic end pieces because the rack requires at least 30" of cross bar width. I actually widened them slightly using the adjustable sliders in the middle of the racks so they aren't right on the edge of the end pieces. Fortunately the claw mounts grab to almost anything and it seems to hold fine but make sure you have 30" of some sort of crossbar to mount these to. The racks come with rubber strips to seal the grooves when you widen the racks - probably not essential but a very nice touch to help keep out dust, water and snow. I posted a new picture showing how far up the arm goes and where they mount on my stock Forester crossbars. Still very happy with these ski racks! Original review: This ski rack is great quality, comparable to my Yakima rack. I love that it easily holds 6 pairs of skis, 3 on each side, with access from each side. Of course that means you have to lock both sides too. If you only have super fats you can fit 2 pairs on each side, but I have a mix of adult and kid skis so a couple of fatter pairs fit in nicely. Installation from the box took about 20 minutes, and now they can pop on and off the roof in mere seconds, without any tool, just by opening the rack and pulling the levers on each side! An allen wrench is included for the 4 screws needed for initial installation. Now I don't have to leave my ski rack on the car full time from October to July. The rubber bumpers for the skis are really nice, thick and soft, and hold the skis well. There is also rubber to protect your crossbars. The two sides split to make access easier from each side, and a cut to fit rubber piece needs to be installed in the middle. It just pushes into place but you'll need a razor blade or something to cut it. I wondered how well the claws would really hold. Turns out they hold great on my first generation Honda Pilot crossbars. They can fit just about any bars with a width of 1" to 3 1/2" and a height of 7/8" to 1 3/8". The lever pulls them really tight and I have zero wiggling. It does need to be adjusted with a simple thumb wheel to get the right tension, but it's really easy. The locks come installed with 2 keys. The lock cores are different from other ski rack brands. Once closed and locked the levers can't be opened for security. Made in China. These are built to last for many years and I'm sure they will.
