Attractive and generally suitable, but didn't work for me
Attractively finished aluminum outer shell. Nice ceramic interior lampholder, which I prefer to the usual paper covered plastic. Seems well made.If you're wondering, the caps that clamp to the wire where it exits this lampholder DO screw onto the nipple ("tube" in their instructions) that in turn screws through the fitting and out the top. That is, your fixture is supported by the clamped cloth cable, not by a set-screw into the cable as with many of these devices. Support via a set-screw is unreliable and a short circuit waiting to happen. That is what happened to my old fixture. I couldn't tell this from any of the pictures on Amazon or elsewhere, so I have attached a photo that tries to show the threads. I have also attached two photos with the instructions, which might help you evaluate whether this meets your needs but aren't legible online. The ceramic lampholder (not the entire assembly) is marked CE and RoHS, but not UL. Both are limited self-certifications that the product doesn't have hazardous substances (RoHS) or complies with relevant European Union laws (CE). Neither is independently evaluated, nor tested that it won't short or start a fire, as UL does. Nevertheless, it shows some effort toward quality that many similar devices don't make. The instructions, BTW, don't use common terms like live or hot, neutral, or ground wires. Also, the screws aren't color coded (as they would be if it were UL listed!). Instead the instructions show pictures of a "negative pole" and a "positive pole." Presumably these are the "live" and "neutral" wires, respectively. This is important to get right when you wire the device if you don't want to get shocked when you touch it.These didn't work for me. The lower threads and ring (on the bulb end of the fixture) are 1 5/8" wide. The shade holder that screwed onto the bottom of my old pendant fixture was much smaller, so I repaired the old fixture instead. I'm not sure if either is "standard" so I didn't deduct much for it. Also, this is only relevant if you are trying to screw a lamp shade holder onto the bottom (that's the thing that typically has 3 horizontal screws holding a shade on). So, measure before you buy if you are repairing something.

Defective Design....Avoid this Product!
Ok, I don't know where to start.First, I'm not an electrician, but I'm guessing that most people who order this are not either. I've been making table legs and brackets out of 3/4" metal pipe fittings and I decided to make a few lamps, so I ordered these because they seemed like good quality. To make it fit with the pipe, I turned and painted a wooden part to hold the socket and it fit perfectly.I put everything together loosely and wired one of these sockets to test it before I tightened everything up.It worked just fine and I was happy......right up until I tried to remove the LED bulb I used to test it.THE CERAMIC SOCKETS THAT GO INSIDE THE METAL OUTER SHELL TURN FREELY INSIDE THE SHELL!!!!!!I followed the directions and tried to make this work for about 2 hours!!!!! 2 Hours of my life I will never get back.Including turning and painting the wooden part, I spent about 3 hours on this. I went back and looked at the directions ( terrible directions) over and over and no matter what I tried, the ceramic insert holding the bulb was never secured enough to remove a bulb without the ceramic part turning inside the metal outer part. A mistake I made was using a good LED bulb to test it and I had to destroy the bulb to get it out. After that I used an old bulb I didn't care about, but no matter what I tried and how tight I got it, WHEN YOU REMOVE A BULB, THE INSIDE TURNS AND THE WIRES GET TWISTED.YES, I FOLLOWED THE DIRECTIONSNO, I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THESE TO ANYONE

Great retro style sockets!
Overall cool vintage look that really went well with the lamp we made. It was relatively easy to use and well made. We love the screw together assembly of the metal body. The metal ring that screws on worked perfectly so we could attach the cage over the bulb. This same design will work great if you use these for pendant lights and want to buy some nice shades for them. We at Old Things Rescue Co liked it so much we're thinking about keeping the finished lamp for ourselves rather than sell it!

Don’t Buy
I bought these to build a fixture for my kitchen. When I opened them they are very nice looking. But then the craziness started…. I started trying to wire the individual fixtures. You have to thread your wire through the porcelain part and get your wires to part from one another to insert - and + wires into the teeny tiny little holes on either side of the insertion area. It took a pair of tweezers for me and then the frustration is keeping your stranded wires together to feed them into the hole while with your third hand (or your teeth) you tighten the screw. By the time I had done 2 of them I packaged them up and was beyond frustrated with them. I requested a refund and Amazon sent the code. Fast forward 24 hr and I thought, surely this is a doable thing? Oh how I regret thinking that! I spent the better part of one evening wiring the individual sockets to the wires. The next day I spent hours bringing the clusters of wires together in my light base. Next I labored at holding the weight of all these wires and lamp sockets up while wiring to my ceiling box. After all that torture I turned my breaker back on expecting to see my nice new light. Fortunately, I used cheap light bulbs for this test versus my Edison bulbs. When turned on 2 of them crackled and blew the bulbs- and I flipped the switch and turned it off. When I started to try to unscrew those bulbs that blew the porcelain part of the fixture came out in my hand and the wires were just protruding out. It was easy at this point to decide what needed to happen- wrap it up and send it back. Life is too short to be annoyed with something like this. I would suggest that you reconsider purchasing these unless you are into self torture.
