Survived a break in!
My neighborhood had several car break ins last night. They found my (empty) Alpha Elite Lock Box cabled to a seat. From what I gathered from video they tried yanking the box out, then gave up. They went next door to continue their crime spree and found and returned with a large pair of scissor type hedge trimmers. They tried cutting the cable, but after a couple of minutes they gave up. Parts of the outer coating of the cable was destroyed, and the cable was smashed and bent, but only one hair of the cable was severed. Pretty amazing. Had the break in been a couple of nights earlier, it would have certainly kept another stolen firearm off the street. Can the box be stolen? - Sure, but to protect against your typical smash and grab guy, this box worked perfectly! I highly recommend this item!Update: I contacted Hornady about getting a replacement cable and was told they would send one out at no charge. - Kind of left me speechless. Thank you Hornady!

Barrel key lock could be better.
I think it's going to workout okay in my truck. The box and the cable are well made. Of course it's Made in China. The only thing keeping it from 5 star is the barrel key lock. Others have complained about this lock too. It's tricky to get the key to work. It's the same way with both of the supplied keys. I have a 2014 Toyota Tundra and I didn't realize all the wiring and stuff that's under the driver's seat so that changed my plans a little.I'll learn to live with it.I don't plan on using it very often, only when I have to leave my carrying piece in the truck to go in restricted dwellings like Federal buildings, hospitals etc. Other then that I carry everywhere I go.Update ! I eliminated using the cable. I took a piece of 1/4" chain , I went around the front leg of the driver seat frame. Made the chain just long enough for the lock box to sit on the right side to the rear on the drivers seat floor board resting against the center console just in front of the seat where the floor board is raised up. As mention there are allot of wires and stuff under the drivers seat. It does fit under there but I'm afraid with all those wires and stuff something might get snagged and damaged. With it tight and resting against the rear of the floor board it gives plenty of room for the accelerator and brake pedal. I cut the cable to get that chrome piece that goes in the cutout on the box. I used a 1/4" shank padlock that goes right through the cable hole in the little chrome insert and lock the ends of the chains all together. I painted the box Flat Black to help it blend in better.. It matches my carpet and floor mats.. Then I took a heavy black hand or dish towel and drape it right over the box.. Looking in through the door window you can not see that lock box sitting there. If I have to the chain is still long enough for me to swing the box under the seat.Since I cut the original cable I ordered a replacement just incase I want to use it in my other old truck or the wife's SUV. I spent quite abit of time messing with it but I think it's going to work out pretty good ,trial and error until you get it right. Instead of using the 3' of cable , I wrapped the chain around the seat frame leg ,then ran it to the box see how much I needed then cut the chain It might be 8" of chain. I didn't think of painting the chain and padlock flat black. That won't take but a minute or so.I apologize I didn't mean to write a book. I hope it helps someone.

Very High Quality
Very durable. I have no doubt this thing is ultra secure. Fits my Glock 17 with 33 round mag. Fits under my car seat. Love it. Also comes with a cool Hornady Security foam key holder that I clipped to my range bag.

Hornady Lock Box review
I had previously purchased 2 lock boxes from other manufactures. The locks on both of those boxes eventually stopped working. I didn't want to keep purchasing lock boxes every year so I was looking for a better quality box. The Hornady box uses a different locking mechanism and key than the cheaper boxes which appears to function better and seems to be more reliable. The box itself is sturdy and well made. Its also slightly larger and heavier than the cheaper boxes were. The cable is thick and the connection point is strong. With any of these types of devices you have to keep in mind that they really only provide some deterrence to theft. With enough time and effort any of these types of devices will fail so you should not depend on this box alone as the only means of security. This box was around $15 more than the cheaper boxes that I bought previously but I think that it was worth the higher price especially if I don't have to replace it every year. I would definitely recommend this lock box.

Fits Everything!
Yup. This thing fits everything! And that’s a 5” Sig X-Five with a beavertail, red dot, and two 21-round mags. The only change I would make is to use a chain instead of a cable.

Effective, high quality and low budget.
Excellent quality. I was actually surprised. I bought if for less than 40 bucks. In my opinion, this product is worth that and then some all day long. I bought this immediately after a co-worker of mine had his truck broken into here in Dallas and his pistol, as well as a significant amount of property stolen. If you live in a big city, demand on excersizing your God given and Constitutionally guaranteed rights, I highly recommend some type of safe or lock box in your vehicle. If you had the right tools, the cable could be cut but that likelyhood is unlikely. Cheap insurance and peace of mind. Also, after talking with the super cool law enforcement officer, the DA here is liberal and could care less about this type of crime. That's right. A felony charge and firearm that could murder a cop.... no worries here. So if you visit Dallas, just be aware of that.

Buy it.
This lock box is the real deal. It was heavier than I expected. Very solid built like a tank. This baby would be very difficult to pry open and the recessed barrel lock is pry proof unless the thief is carrying around professional tools!I don't have children but this box will keep them out and your weapon safe. If you are looking for a lock box that is at the top of the heap this is the one.

very nice
I bought this for when I go into a business, and I cant wear my EDC, like at the doctors office. The cable secures to the seat anchor, and the safe is tough as nails. Easy to open and lock. One thing I like, if you lose your keys, Hornady will NOT issue new ones, so keep the spare in a safe or such( not the Hornady safe).
