The photography, the selected pieces, the detailed information --- on-target! Students actually enjoy learning historical styles, all-the-while picking-up a little World History along the way. (Warms a teacher's heart!)The book contains elegant photos of furniture only found in world famous museums. Judith Miller has given us an up-close and personal look at seldom seen antiques, as well as more current pieces. Even the dedicated student would have had to spend years visiting select museums for just a peek. The quality of the research, the pictures, even the quality of the paper tells the reader "something special is behind this cover".All this AND, it's a gorgeous Coffee Table Book; worthy of a Christmas gift to that hard-to-buy-for person on everyone's list.

Often I just open this book and just browse through different eras of furniture. A brilliant book with enourmous amount of picturesand ideas. I recommend it 100%. If you are into furniture design history or a practicing woodworker regardless of your skills - you are in dire need of this book. You just don't know it yet)

When we look at the old classic furniture all the way to the present we laughing so bad on the so called contemporary furniture. The modern one is so ugly and uncomfortable. It is funny!

LOVE ❤️ this book. It gives great furniture design details w/photos. Identifying the Period, Style and Origin of the furniture and Designers. This book also gives a little background in history throughout the periods of design.

Recommended by a fine furniture craftsman as THE book to have as an overview to recognizing furniture styles throughout history. My copy is definitely "used" but quite serviceable. This is an airplane flight over the history of furniture style, not a dissertation on furniture development. I would buy it again. Shame it is out of print.

I am into furniture business, this book gave me immense pleasure exploring from 400 BC to Neo Modern furniture. Range of topics covered are amazing, 3000 illustrations is simply superb with every detail in it. Would like to thank Judith Miller and her team for a wonderful publication. Quite handy, print quality is amazing and you simply can't stop reading it as every page there is a new design and more to learn.With this book, it becomes easier to understand the end user requirement and design accordingly. Fusion of designs across the length of furniture history seems quite complex, but presented in the most simple way.References, Indexing, Illustrations and flow of content is just perfect. A fantastic must have book for every home decorator with a taste.
